The number of illegal crossings on the alleged Balkan way has been 64% lower in fresh months than in the first 4th of 2024," Frontex reported.
The number of illegal crossings of the external borders of the European Union in the first 4th of this year was importantly lower than in the same period of the erstwhile year, with the largest decrease in illegal migration being recorded on the Western Balkans route.
Frontex stated in its Friday communication that the full number of EU border crossings all migration routes had fallen by 31 percent, i.e. 33 600 registered. On the alleged Balkan trail, they were recorded somewhat over 2,000, and most illegal migrants came from Turkey, Syria and Afghanistan.
The most dangerous way that immigrants are trying to get to Europe is the way that runs through the Mediterranean. In 2024, about 2,300 people died there. In the first 3 months of this year, 385 people died on this route.
