The oldest sacral building in Warsaw Prague burned down. It's the wooden bell tower of the church of God's Body on Kamionk. A 64-year-old man was detained in connection with the case.
The surrounding residents were afraid about the dense smoke coming from the parish. After calling the fire department, it turned out that a historical wooden bell tower was burning.
The wooden two-storey bell tower was erected, as adopted, in 1817. Inside it there are bells, of which the elder was created in the 18th century. Thanks to the steel reinforcing structure, the bells were saved. As provided by the Capital Monument Conservationist, the pre-prepared method documentation will enable the reconstruction of the facility.
It is worth noting that just behind the church, on the confluence of Wedel Street and Kamionek there is simply a place commemorating the birth of Roman Dmowski. The boulder with the inscription stands in the place of the home where in 9 August 1864 the creator of modern national thought was born.
Witnesses saw a man fleeing the scene. The police detained a 64-year-old who confessed to the alleged acts. But he could not explain why he set fire to a historical object.
