Repeated violations of Polish law, creating a threat to public safety and a complete deficiency of respect for judgments – this is simply a balance of activities of a 19-year-old Ukrainian citizen who was deported to his country by the Border defender decision.

By administrative decision, he will not be able to return to Poland or another Schengen countries for the next six years.

Driving despite ban and drugs in the car

On March 31, 2025, police officers from the Buku Police Station detained a Mazda driver for regular inspection at Niepruszzewo. It turned out that behind the wheel is simply a well-known 19-year-old Ukrainian citizen, who had already had a number of crimes and misdemeanors on his account. A man should not drive a vehicle at all – from 2024 he was subject to a court order, a five-year ban on driving any motor vehicles. This ban was ruled out after being detained a year earlier for driving under the influence of alcohol – at that time he had more than 2 promes of alcohol in his blood.

During the March check, police found drugs on the man: mephedron and marijuana. He was immediately detained, heard the charges and confessed. However, this was not the end of the case – the police began analyzing his past.

Criminal past and repeated misconduct

Investigative findings indicate that a 19-year-old boy did not first conflict with the law. He was previously detained for drunk driving, stealing, and repeatedly breaking court orders. Despite his early age, he has already appeared respective times in police records.

– Collected evidence showed that we are dealing with a individual who not only ignores Polish law, but consciously and repeatedly breaks it – he reported on horseshoes. Łukasz Paterski from the Wielkopolska Police Department.

Police, in agreement with the Border Guard, have taken action to remove a man from the territory of the Republic. As noted by the officers, his continued stay in the country posed a real threat to the public order and safety of others.

Deportation and prohibition of entry into the Schengen area

At the request of the Chief of Municipal Police in Poznań, the Border defender issued a decision to oblige a Ukrainian citizen to return to his country. The deportation was carried out under the escort of Border defender officers. The man was handed over to the Ukrainian side.

The decision to remove from the country besides included a ban on re-entry not only to Poland but besides to the full Schengen area – for a period of six years. This means that he will not be able to legally cross the borders of most European Union countries for the coming years.

A strong signal from the service

The case of a 19-year-old is 1 example of the increasingly decisive actions of Polish services towards foreigners who do not respect the law. There is no authorisation for people surviving in Poland – regardless of their nationality – to violate the law and to put others in danger on many occasions," the officers emphasize.

In the light of the tense situation on the east border and the expanding number of attempts to illegally cross the border, border services and the police are taking increasingly decisive steps towards those in violation.
