Police stopped 9 alleged "war refugees" from Ukraine who offered bribes for speeding up their procedures for legalising their stay in Poland. A clerk of the Pomeranian Provincial Office was besides detained, who took money for issuing them residence cards.
Eastern standards are back in office. At the end of last year, officers of the Department for the fight against corruption of the Provincial Police Command in Gdańsk, together with the territory Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk, revealed criminal acts that violated the principles of fairness in the strategy of legalization of abroad residence in Poland.
The detentions which took place in November 2024 included respective people, including an authoritative of the Pomeranian Provincial Office, who since 2022 accepted property benefits from Ukrainians, in exchange for speeding up the procedures for issuing administrative decisions concerning the legalization of their stay in our country. Its activities, combined with intermediaries, have created a network of illegal practices that have compromised assurance in public institutions. The case was developmental. The analysis of the collected material led to subsequent detentions and charges against others.
A fewer days ago, on June 9, 9 more people were detained in Gdańsk and Koszalin. The detainees are Ukrainian citizens. They have already heard allegations of granting the property benefit in exchange for intermediation in the settlement of the case in the Pomeranian Provincial Office in Gdańsk, by exerting an illegal influence on the authoritative in order to velocity up the procedure for issuing a foreigner's residence card in Poland, i.e. a crime with Articles 230 and § 1 of the Criminal Code. Police surveillance and non-contact with another suspects were applied to the detainees.
For the admission and presentation of property benefits due to influences in public institutions, imprisonment is punishable by 8 years.
All points to the fact that the revealed activity is just the tip of the iceberg. statistic say that the effectiveness of the legalization procedure concerns more than 95% of applications submitted by foreigners. Poland becomes multi-kulti, thanks to bribery.
