On 14 December 2024, historian Rafał Maria Żebrowski died in Warsaw. Historian, author of many books and historical-publicist articles. He was born in 1954 in Gdynia. He was a postgraduate of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) Żebrowski is simply a devotee of Lviv and everything related to the Borderlands. For many years he was printing in “Lwowski Yearbook”. He was associated for respective years with the anti-communist "Civil Newspaper". He worked as an assistant at the Varsavianist laboratory of the judaic Historical Institute. Emanuela Ringelblum in Warsaw, specialized in judaic past of the 19th century and past of the interwar period. He was the author of, among others, “Polin. Culture of Polish Jews in the 20th century (Zarys)”, he worked together with Zofia Borzyminska (1993); “Możesz Schorr and his letters to Louis Gumplowicz” (1994); “Jews' Acts in Poland. Calendar" (1993); "The Acts of Jews in Poland. 1918–1939. Selection of origin texts" (1993); "Polish Judaism Dictionary. History. Culture. Religion. People’, work together with Zofia Borzyminska (2003); “Jewish spiritual Municipality in Warsaw. 1918–1939. In the Policy Circle’ (2012). Active associate of meetings of Polish and Ukrainian writers and scientists as part of the task “Dialog of 2 Cultures” held at the Juliusz Słowacki Museum in Silicon.
His parent was Zbigniew Herbert's sister (1924-1998) poet, Halina Herbert-Żebrowska (1923−2017). Żebrowski besides dealt with the biography and analysis of his uncle's work, was a associate of the Patronate Council of the Herbert Schools Club. author of a biographical prose about his uncle, including “Zbigniew Herbert. The stone on which I was born” (2011). His wife was Zofia Borzyminska, who was besides a longtime worker of the Emanuel Ringelblum judaic Historical Institute. She is simply a scholarship holder of the judaic Institute of discipline (YIVO) in fresh York City and a winner of the prize of the Institute for your achievements and the full work.
Dr. Rafał Maria Żebrowski in 2018 was awarded the Silver Medal "Deserved Culture Gloria Artis".
