Survey: The vast majority of Poles against receiving immigrants

According to a survey conducted by the opinion24 on behalf of RMF FM, the vast majority of Poles argue the admission of migrants.

As many as 75% of respondents argued against Poland implementing open borders policy.

Migration pact as a hot subject for the election campaign

The discussion on the admission of migrants has become 1 of the key themes of the electoral campaign. The candidate supported by Law and Justice, Karol Nawrocki, announced that in the event of a win he would unilaterally pronounce the EU migration pact.

During the gathering in Sejny on 8 February, Nawrocki stressed that it was the work of migrants to respect Polish values and principles. He besides opposed the migration policy of the European Union, accusing the Germans that they were trying to solve their migration problems at the expense of the safety of Poles.

At regional level, agrarian residents (82%) are the main opponents of migration, while in large cities the opposition is somewhat smaller (61%).

In terms of political sympathy, Confederate voters and the Law and Justice are most opposed to migrants – as many as 93% of respondents from these groups stand against their acceptance. Among the sympathizers of the Civic Coalition and the Party, the sentences are more divided – 48 percent and 44 percent of respondents support migration, with almost equal numbers of opponents. In the case of the fresh Left, the supporters of migration represent 42 percent, and among the voters of the 3rd Way – 32 percent.

The survey clearly shows that the vast majority of Poles argue open border policies. The issue of migration becomes 1 of the key themes of the electoral campaign, and the candidates' positions clearly reflect social sentiments. As the elections approach, this could become even more dominant in public debate.
