The president vetoed the budget bill. There won't be 3 billion for public media

– I decided to veto the budget bill for 2024, which included PLN 3 billion for public media. There can be no consent to this against gross violations of the Constitution and the principles of the democratic regulation of law. Public media must first be repaired reasonably and legally – announced by Andrzej Duda today.

– At the same time, I inform you that after Christmas I will immediately submit to the Sejm my own project, concerning, among another things, increases for teachers and another expenditures planned in the budget bill. I so call on the Marshal of the Sejm of Simon Holovnia and the Marshal of the legislature of Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska to urgently convene both Chambers to consider and adopt the task this year," added the President. "The effort to finance public media by means of a budget bill (by a majority of Parliament) is unacceptable in the current situation. In my draft bill, all another budget expenditure – headed by increases in teachers' salaries – will be preserved.
