Prepared by the Ministry of National Education, as a mandatory subject, wellness Education is contrary to the Basic Act – we read in the Post of the Polish Episcopal Conference towards the planned subject wellness Education.
Bishops explain that the subject of wellness Education prepared by the Ministry of National Education, as mandatory, is contrary to the Basic Act. "Despite any legitimate subjects, specified as possible threats on the net or the sharing of children's image, depraved records on sexual education cannot be accepted," says the Post. "Sexual education according to the Constitution remains the competence of parents alternatively than states," the bishops emphasize.
Bishops point out that "the MEN consulted regulation, especially concerning the form of sexual education at school, violates the law in force in Poland, confers on parents' rights to decide their children and threatens the appropriate improvement of children and young people".
"When we think about the welfare of children, the rights of parents and Polish society, we insist that changes should be introduced in a spirit of dialogue, common respect and respect for the law," we read in the Post.

Position
Polish Episcopal Conference
towards the planned subject wellness Education
Today, erstwhile there is simply a stormy discussion through Poland about what young Poles are expected to learn in school, we mention to a paper that is overriding in our country. The Constitution of the Republic of Poland says:
"Parents have the right to rise their children according to their own beliefs. This upbringing should take into account the maturity of the child, as well as the freedom of his conscience and religion and his beliefs. Parents have the right to supply children with moral and spiritual education and teaching according to their beliefs" (Articles 48 and 53).
In this context, prepared by the Ministry of National Education, as a compulsory subject, wellness Education is contrary to the Basic Act. Despite any legitimate topics, specified as possible threats on the net or child-image sharing, depraved sexual education records cannot be accepted. Sexual education under the Constitution remains the competence of parents, not of the state.
The consulted MEN regulation, especially concerning the form of sexual education at school, violates the law in force in Poland, makes parents' rights to decide their children and threatens the appropriate improvement of children and young people.
Thinking about the welfare of children, the rights of parents and Polish society, we insist that changes be introduced in a spirit of dialogue, common respect and respect for the law.
We thank parents, grandmothers, grandparents, pastors, teachers, catechists, guardians and social organizations who engage in the appropriate improvement and upbringing of children and youth.
