Historical calendar: an anniversary of the crackdown of the Tatars by Polish forces commanded by hetman Stanislaw Koniecpolski, in the war conflict of Martynow.

Today in our calendar, we will look at the circumstances surrounding this clash.

Since the conflict of Cecora and Chocimiem, the Tatar Orda conducted raids on the Republic of Poland all year. On 5 June 1624, the Ordians again entered the Crown border and began to plunder it, utilizing the weaknesses of Polish troops. In their rally they reached Sandomierz. After gathering wealth and jasyrus, they set off on their way back.

Meanwhile, hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski decided to prepare an ambush on the beard at Martynow. On June 19, the Tartars reached the Martyns. Despite the double numerical advantage (10 1000 against 5 1000 Poles) did not decide to fight and moved towards the second crossing, which was located close Halicz.

On the evening of the same day, the Polish rolling stock discreetly crossed Dniestr and headed for Halicz. In response, in charge of the basket Cantymir Murza He separated his troops – any he threw on the hetman, and a basket he crossed under Martynov. After midnight, on June 20, front defender fights began on the road to Halicz. During this time, the Polish rolling stock withdrew, being 11 km from Martynow.

The Hetman decided to decision on to counterattack. The rolling stock was placed in 8 rows, front to the Dniester. There's a ride in between the cars. Combating the Tatars, the armored men of the front defender were to draw Kantymir's forces between rolling stock and Dniestr. Then Poles, hitting the Tatar wing, were to push them into the swamps at the mouth of the Lomnica River to Dniester. The commanding Tatars of Kantymir-mura began to retreat to Martynov, so Koniecpolski was forced to leave the convenient position.

As the wagons came down from the hills, the Tartars abruptly attacked. In order to shield the rolling stock, the armored banners were launched. The fight lasted an hr until the Tartars began retreating. erstwhile the rolling stock followed them out into the plain, the captain ordered a general attack. The rolling stock wagons began to appear from behind both wings of the second Polish throw. The volleys of the rolling stock guns and guns and Polish driving guns reached the Tatars, causing them to panic.

In pursuit of escape, 12 armored banners set out to advance the Tatars and make their way north. We managed to do it at Martynow. The Tartars were pushed to the Dniester, causing them dense losses. Many of them jumped from the advanced bank of the river, breaking their legs. In turn, those of the Ordians who reached the river were fired from arches and guns. Much of them drowned. The Tatar Army chief himself was injured. Poles took the jasyr back.
