Historical Calendar: April 24, 1998 – execution “Nikosia”

Historical calendar: anniversary of the execution at the Las Vegas brothel of 1 of the bosses of the Tri-City Mafia – Nikodem Skotarczyk nicknamed “Nicos”.

Today in our calendar we will look at the times of the late Polish People's Republic and the political transformation that facilitated the career of 1 of the most celebrated Polish gangsters.

Nikodem Skotarczyk began his career in the mid-1970s as a bodyguard in 1 of the most then elite clubs on the Coast – the alleged "Maxim" in the Podgylno Eagle. Its owner was Michał Antoniszyn ps. “Mecenas”. The same, as known throughout the coast as a cictor and king of the grey zone, became an idol and a function model for him.

Nicos took on various ventures that brought easy earnings. He was active in the illegal trade in amber and currency, and he besides made a fewer insignificant robberies. This procedure, though dangerous, did not bring the phenomenal earnings for which he hoped. Therefore, in the early 1980s he began to trade stolen cars.

Only in 1985, he smuggled over 100 stolen vehicles from Germany to Poland. At the time, respective people who worked with him were detained, but they were just tiny ones, playing the function of “curriers”. Eventually, the militia besides found his trail. Warned by the “intelligence”, “Nicos” disappeared, but has since been pursued by a BOLO.

In 1989, he was arrested in Berlin and imprisoned there. He ran distant from him switching clothes with his brother erstwhile he came to see him. erstwhile he was detained again, he fled the convoy during transport to Polish detention. Thanks to the above spectacular escapes, “Nicos” became 1 of the most celebrated Polish gangsters, a actual legend of the underworld.

Although he was inactive being pursued, he did not intend to quit his criminal activities. In the mid-1990s he entered a fresh manufacture – drug trafficking.

The large fame and the large money he made, made him more than just enemies in law enforcement. While it was voiced that respective competitors in the manufacture wanted to kill him, he did not invest in adequate protection for himself. He felt he was a legend and had adequate influence that no 1 would dare rise his hand to him.

April 23, 1998, "Nico" played on the names of his friend at the Marco Polo club. After midnight, the company decided to change the premises and decision to the Las Vegas brothel. There “Nikosia” got the killer. He ran into the place and gave six shots, hitting him in the tummy and head. The victim was killed at the scene.

The main suspicions fell on Daniel Zacharzewski, ps. “Zachar”, who was a close associate of “Nikosia”. another leads in the investigation led, among others, to the Łódź “Ośmiernica” and to Zbigniew Mikołajewski ps. “Carrington”. The case was dropped. The name of the perpetrator and the murderer's client is unknown to this day.
