The territory Court in Katowice maintained on Wednesday the decision to arrest for 90 days the creator of the Red is Bad Paweł Szopa brand, which is 1 of the suspected irregularities in the Government strategical Reserve Agency (RARS). The court did not take into account on Wednesday the complaints of his defenders in this case.

The information about the final decision of the court was given after the gathering representing him by the Deputy Mayor Bartosz Lewandowski and Proc. Tomasz Tadla from the Silesian Department of the National Prosecutor's Office.

Paul Szopa most likely resides outside the country, being hunted by a BOLO. According to Wednesday's decision, the Raccoon will be arrested after detention for 3 months. In the Warsaw court, he is waiting for an application to issue an iron letter to him, which would warrant his freedom until his final judgment.

Mec. Lewandowski told PAP that he disagreed with the decision to arrest the client. – There is no reason to arrest Mr. Paul, especially since he was in Poland for many months, actively active in the proceedings, knew what the activities were carried out, was at the disposal of the prosecutor, established a proxy and was deprived of his liberty in my opinion it is completely unfounded – said the lawyer. – On the another hand, we have a final decision from the court in this respect and I must take note of it, although I fundamentally disagree with it. – he added.

The court did not take into account the complaints of the 3 defenders, in full agreement with the argument (...) that there was evidence that there was a advanced likelihood of the alleged acts and that there were circumstantial grounds, namely fear of harassment, fear of escape and severe punishment said Proc. Tadla.

As he pointed out, Paul Szopia is charged with alleged engagement in a criminal group, co-operation in overshooting powers in order to get the property benefit of RARS officials and money laundering.

The Prosecutor's Office informed on 22 August that in its investigation into irregularities at the RARS, it issued a decision to present charges against the erstwhile Head of the Agency Michał K. and Paweł Szopa. It is about participation in an organised criminal group and failure to fulfil duties and overshoot powers in order to accomplish a wealth benefit. Both suspects' whereabouts were unknown.

At the request of the prosecutor, the Katowice-East territory Court agreed to arrest Michael K., allowing him to initiate his search with a BOLO and issue a European arrest warrant. On September 2, K. was detained in London. Poland requested his extradition.

The court of First Instance did not then take into account the request for the arrest of Paweł Szopa, considering that the fear of mating in his case was not large adequate to make it necessary, especially since the fishy applied for an iron letter. After the prosecutor's complaint, the territory court – unlike the court of First Instance – decided a fewer weeks ago that in the case of a fishy there was a fear of mating and hiding, so he decided to arrest him. On Wednesday, another composition of the Katowice territory court recognized a complaint by the defenders against that resolution. The decision to arrest Paul Raccoon was maintained.

The whereabouts of Paul Szopa, according to media reports, are unknown. erstwhile asked about this on Wednesday, Mr Lewandowski said that he could not supply information on this subject. He besides did not betray or what contact he has with his client.

The investigation into irregularities in the RARS was initiated on 1 December 2023 and is presently being conducted by the Silesian External Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of PK in Katowice. It concerns, among another things, the breach of rights and the failure of RARS employees to fulfil their duties erstwhile organising and proceeding to acquisition goods, and thus actions to the detriment of the public interest from 23 February 2021 to 27 November 2023 in Warsaw in order to get a property benefit.

The initiation of the investigation was based on classified material collected by CBA and 2 notifications of suspicion of a crime filed by the General Inspector of Financial Information. At a further phase of the investigation, the General Inspector of Financial Information submitted 2 further notifications of suspected money laundering.

In July, the D.A. charged 2 another people with the RARS: manager of the Procurement Office of the Government's Justyna G. Reserve Agency and manager of this office Joannie P. These allegations relate to an excess of powers in connection with the performance of public functions, which was to include preferential treatment for certain RARS counterparties in connection with the implementation of an EU grant of EUR 114 million for the supply of generating units for Ukraine.
