Pope Francis died. He left for the Lord on April 21 at 7.35 p.m. at the Holy home of Martha. He was 88. What did his pontificate look like? We will present any of the facts of the last 12 years.
March 13, 2013 erstwhile metropolitan of Buenos Aires card. Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Bishop of Rome and head of the Catholic Church worldwide, taking the name Francis. His pontificate began solemnly on St. Joseph's Day on 19 March. He was the first pope from Latin America, the first Jesuit in this position and was the first to elect St. Francis of Assisi as his patron.
Here are any data on Francis' pontificate:
He made 47 abroad trips during which he visited 66 countries, including Poland on 27-31 July 2016. This includes 2 countries: France and Switzerland, where the Pope visited only global organisations located there – the European Parliament and the Council of Europe (Strasburg, 25 XI 2014 respectively) and the planet Council of Churches (Geneva, 21 VI 2018), or participated in global meetings held there.
He made 39 trips to Italy and visited 23 Roman parishes.
He made 175 beatifications, including 33 collective (at least 4 individuals once) during which 1532 people (of which 1375 at the time of collective rites) were raised to the glory of the altars from 39 countries; among them there are 31 blessed from Poland (including 10 Elizabethan from Silesia, martyrs of planet War II and 9-member Ulm family, besides tortured during the war).
He presided over 24 canonizations, including 4 collective – 44 people – 131 fresh saints from 21 countries, including John Paul II and Stanislaw from Jesus and Mary Papczyński. In fact, 931 saints should be spoken of, due to the fact that during his first canonization on 12 May 2013, Francis declared Saint Anthony Primaldo and his 800 martyrs from Otranto of 1480, but later the Holy See began listing only the former.
The Pope adopted 538 politicians: monarchs, presidents and another heads of state, prime ministers and another heads of government, parliamentarians, abroad ministers from 145 countries, and over 80 global organizations, local authorities and another structures. There were 8 people from Poland: president Bronisław Komorowski (26 IV 2014) and Andrzej Duda (9 XI 2015, 15 X 2018, 25 IX 2020, 1 IV 2022), erstwhile president Lech Wałęsa (6 VI 2014), Prime Ministers Donald Tusk (19 V 2014), Ewa Kopacz (12 VI 2015), Beata Szydło (13 V 2016), and Mateusz Morawiecki (4 VI 2018), and Marshal of the legislature Tomasz Grodzki (8 I 2022). In addition, the Pope adopted D. Tusk twice as president of the European Council (6 V 2016, 5 X 2019).
He performed 15 baptism rites in the celebration of the Lord's Baptism and occasionally on another occasions, during which the Holy Father gave this sacrament to 301 children and 12 akin ceremonies, most during the Passover liturgy on the large Saturday (but not only), during which the pope or 1 of the cardinals on his behalf baptized 95 adults from different countries (the ceremony was connected at erstwhile with the acceptance of sacraments of confirmation and Holy Communion by the catechumens).

13 times the Pope (or appointed cardinals on his behalf) ordained a full of 156 neo-presbyters, consecrated 17 bishops (including 1 Pole – Archbishop Waldemar Sommertag, Apostolic Nuncio) and blessed a full of 23 married couples.
The Holy Father appointed 2219 bishops, including 53 for the Church in Poland: the first was Stanisław Jamrozek – an auxiliary bishop of the Przemysl archdiocese, appointed to this office on 20 April 2013, and the last, for now, is Tadeusz Zb. Sztajerwald – auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Warsaw-Pravia. In addition, he appointed 48 another priests of Polish origin or of Polish roots bishops in another countries or in the service of the Holy See (mainly as nuncios).
He delivered 433 palies during 14 ceremonies (including 9 Poles, but that Archbishops Marek Jędraszewski and Tadeusz Wojda received palies twice in connection with the inclusion of fresh archdioceses).
In 10 consistory, the Holy Father appointed a full of 163 fresh cardinals, including 2 Poles: Konrad Krajewski – a large papal almsman and Grzegorz Rysz – a metropolitan of Łódź. Of these, 14 purples died, and of those living, 138 have voting rights.
Francis announced, among others, 4 encyclicals, 7 apostolic adhortations, after 12 messages for the planet Days of Peace and planet Days of Social Media and 13 for the planet Youth Days, convened 5 conventions of the Synod of Bishops, including 2 average and peculiar and 1 extraordinary.
From the beginning of the pontificate Francis met the faithful at 526 Wednesday general audiences (8 last only prepared, and the text was given by individual else) and 687 times on Sunday and Christmas prayer by the Angel of the Lord or Regina Caeli during the Passover period.
In addition, the Pope introduced respective Days of Different Topics into the ecclesiastical calendar: planet Day of poorness – in 33. Sunday Ordinary, from 2017, Sunday of God's Word – on 3rd Sunday of average (since 2020), planet Day of Grandpas and Elders – on Sunday closest to 25th July (since 2021) and planet Day of Children – since last year.
