On 6 June, PKP Cargo in restructuring informed about the planned further group redundancies in the company. It was then indicated that they could cover up to 2429 people - up to 1041 employees in 2025 and up to 1388 in 2026 in various professional groups. The exemptions would be implemented by 30 September 2026, but that those foreseen for the current year would take place by the end of July.

ZZM informed on Monday that the notification was to concern Sebastian Miller, a associate of the board of the PKP Cargo in restructuring, liable for operational matters. As indicated, the board announced the dismissal of 839 drivers, 232 rolling stock auditors and 169 manoeuvring squad members "bringing about a permanent limitation of the company's operational capacity" and may affect the functioning of the national transport strategy and national security.
In a message sent on that day by the manager of the sanctioning mass of PKP Cargo in the restructuring of Izabela Skonieczna-Pałczka, it pointed out that the information on the intention to carry out group redundancies must be published before the submission of the Restructuring Plan, if it is considered to be part of it. "This does not mean that group exemptions will be carried out in the form of information about their intention. The information presented is the most pessimistic script for carrying out group redundancies" - she added.

According to the union, the scale of the simplification in employment is not justified either by economical or operational reasons, and the consequences may be "irreparable". Miętek explained that the dismissals of 839 drivers announced by the board of directors mean a simplification of 1 3rd of the full professional group employed in PKP Cargo in restructuring.
Further exemptions
On last Friday NSZZ Solidarity PKP Cargo reported that he had sent letters to president Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk on planned group redundancies in the company. Trade unions call for action to halt them.
PKP Cargo for the second time in a year informs about its intention to carry out exemptions. Last July, the management of the company decided to carry out group redundancies by the company's establishments and headquarters. The consequence of this process was a simplification of 3665 employees. Currently, PKP Cargo employs about 10,000 people.
