The government argues that the acceleration to 320 km/h on the Igrek line does not endanger with costly tickets, due to the fact that competition will force lower prices – writes "Diary Gazeta Prawna".
"There is no dispute over the velocity of trains on the Igrek line from Warsaw through the Central Communication Port to Wrocław and Poznań, which is planned to be established by 2035. The erstwhile government assumed that the depots would run to 250 km/h. The current authorities want trains to scope 320 km/h," says the ‘DGAP’.
As it was written, the Government of Law and Justice indicated as the main argument for its solution that slower vehicles could produce Polish companies.
"It has besides been added that Poland is not a very large country, and 250 km/h will allow, in addition to large urban centres, to service the smaller ones, specified as Sieradz or Kalisz. Patryk Wild, the author of the rail spoke strategy leading to the CPK, besides argues that 320 km/h velocity means an increase in energy consumption of about 80%, which will translate into ticket prices" - he noted.
However, the current government claims that there is no retreat from the increase in speed. "The PKP Intercity company has already initiated preliminary consultations in connection with the planned procedure for the acquisition of 20 trains adapted to 320 km/h. Janusz Malinowski, head of Intercity, announces that the tender will be announced in December at the latest" - was informed.
It was added that Malebszak and CPK presented simulations showing that passengers did not gotta fear advanced ticket prices on trains driving 320 km/h. ‘Condition: allowing competition to enter fast routes. This takes place, for example, in Spain. On the routes of KDP there are 4 carriers. As a result, ticket prices on long routes are even halved lower than in the case of Polish Pendolino warehouses" – they were passed.
