Politician of the Civic Coalition Paweł Kowal became the fresh head of the group structures in Podkarpacie. However, the result of the party's interior elections was controversial — an election protest was made, and the case could even go to the prosecutor's office.
First election in the fresh formation
On Sunday, national elections were held in the Civic Coalition. The members of the group elected territory and regional structures leaders as well as organization chairman. The only candidate for this post was Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
These were the first elections held in the structures of the civilian Coalition in the current formula. The group was formed in October 2025 as a consequence of the merger of the Civic Platform, Modern Platform and the Polish Initiative.
Results in Podkarpacie
According to the local portal Rzeszow-info.pl, Paweł Kowal was victorious in the election for the head of regional structures of the Civic Coalition in Podkarpacie. The politician won 414 votes. His rival, MP Joanna Frydrych, received 267 votes of support.
However, the election committee of Frydry protested, indicating possible irregularities during the vote. According to the voters, those who had no regulated membership contributions could participate, which, in accordance with the rules in force in the party, should prevent participation in the electoral procedure.
Controversy in Przeworski district
The biggest doubts concern Przeworska and Przeworski district. In this area, Paul Kowal won 136 votes, while Joanna Frydrych won only five. According to local reports, any people were to be added to the electoral lists in the region commissions just before the vote.
Member Frydry's staff announces that it does not preclude the filing of a announcement to the D.A. on possible violations.
Division of victories in the region
According to rmf24.pl portal, Paweł Kowal won the vote in Tarnobrzeg, Przemyśl, Dębica, Jasle, Łańcut, Ropczyce, Sanoku and Stalowa Wola. Joanna Frydrych won in Rzeszów, Krosno, Jarosław, Lubaczów, Kolbuszowa and Mielec, among others.
The head of the party's election commission, Dorota Sunday, informed on Monday that the protest from Podkarpacia would be considered after his legal analysis.
Under the rules of the civilian Coalition, electoral protests may be submitted within 3 days of the end of the vote.
Reservations besides in Lower Silesia
It was not only in Podkarpacie that there were objections to the conduct of the vote. Ms Monika Wielichowska besides informed about possible irregularities, who applied for the function of president of the Lower Silesian civilian Coalition structures.
In a published statement, it alleged, among another things, the deficiency of full secrecy of the vote and the deficiency of consequence of the committee to the electoral agitation of its opponent close the election venue.
The election in the Lower Silesian territory was won by the erstwhile regional president Michał Jaros. However, the difference between him and Monika Wielichowska was only a fewer votes.
Comment: Paul Kowal's example, KO policy, clearly proves that unity in this political formation is not as unconditional and assured as the various media bodies and activists of this organization say.
