In the already announced prestigious ranking of planet universities Times Higher Education planet University Rankings 2025 Among the world's top 1,000 universities were 4 Polish (in the 6-cent Medical University in Wrocław, in the 7–8th Jagiellonian University and Warsaw University, and in the 9–10th Medical University in Łódź). Enjoy or cry? Similar success was achieved in Vietnam – 4 universities in akin places, of which it can enjoy, but Poland? For example, Malaysia (12 universities), Egypt (7), and European universities for example Spain (30), tiny Portugal (9) were better placed in this ranking.. From Italian universities, 57 were among the top 1000, and as you know, Italians are afraid about academic pathologies reducing their technological potential. There is nothing to compare to the US or rich European countries specified as England, Germany or France, due to the fact that specified comparisons meet with protests of our less-funded dormitories. Comparisons with poorer countries, as well as fewer richer countries, are most likely justified, but the media and Polish universities do not do so. The Wrocław University, as well as the Opole University of Technology, is pleased with its ranking positions, although they are placed in the 1200–1500 range, together with specified technological “potents” as universities from Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Botswana, Morocco, Ethiopia, Ghana, Lebanon and Uganda. Is that a reason for satisfaction? It is simply a pity that there are no rankings developed on the basis of specified criteria as plagiarism, the number of bad diplomas, the efficiency of publication factories, the efficiency of academic cooperatives (reciprocal citation of dormitories), the level of nepotism, the scale of setting of occupation competitions, the level of mobbing... Unfortunately, these “areas” of academic life are not decently monitored, hence their negative impact on university positions in planet rankings is not known. It can be assumed that Polish universities in rankings developed on the basis of specified criteria would undoubtedly be high, due to the fact that the level of these pathologies, demolishing the Polish academic domain, is high.
