Przemysław Czarnek, erstwhile Minister of Education and Science, in an interview with tv Republic expressed serious concerns about the direction the country is heading under Prime Minister Donald Tusk. In his view, the current actions of the government may lead to a permanent change in the country's power system, threatening the democratic foundations of the state.
Czarnek believes that Poland has become a circumstantial laboratory for a fresh political model, which he describes as “liberal totalitarianism”. According to him, the Tusk government, acting under the influence of the Brussels elites and leftist political circles, strives for complete dominance, eliminating patriotic and conservative forces in the country. He stresses that specified actions can be tested in Poland and then implemented in another European Union countries.
The erstwhile minister points out the increasing support for the Confederate in the polls before the presidential election, but at the same time points to attempts to make an artificial image of reality by the media. In his opinion, the current power is trying to influence election results by manipulating polls and marginalizing right-wing opposition. Czarnek stresses that the rulers act in accordance with the rule of “once we have gained power we will never give back”, fearing work in the event of its loss.
Czarnek besides referred to the situation in the opposition camp, drawing attention to the low results of Szymon Holown in the polls and the deficiency of support from the Polish People's Party. In his opinion, a possible withdrawal of Holowna from the presidential election would mean the end of the 3rd Way project. Furthermore, Czarnek believes that the Tusk government is most afraid about the candidacy of Karol Nawrocki and is taking action to reduce his chances in elections.
According to the PiS policy, the upcoming presidential elections will be among the most crucial in the past of the 3rd Republic. He believes that Poland has become an arena of ideological struggle, where the rulers strive to destruct all political competition. He warns that if the current political model works in Poland, it can be replicated in another European countries, which poses a serious threat to democracy on the continent.
In the context of these concerns, Czarnek calls for the mobilisation of patriotic and conservative environments in defence of democratic values and the sovereignty of Poland.
