5 August in the Polish Parliament associate of the Confederation of the Polish Crown Roman Fritz commemorated 14th anniversary of the death of Andrzej Lepper – the founder and leader of Self-defense. In his speech, Fritz stressed that Lepper was "a symbol of rebellion against evil and injustice of systemic transformation" and that his legacy remained alive.

Controversy around Lepper's death

Fritz recalled that the circumstances of the death of Andrzej Lepper rise serious doubts to this day. "Most likely he was murdered, and his death was staged as a suicide," said the MP, suggesting that the leader of Self-defense had "dangerous knowledge" that may have disturbed "the leaders of his murderers."

Lepper as a protector of average people

According to Fritz, Andrzej Lepper was 1 of the fewer politicians who openly sided with the victims of the economical transformation of the 1990s. "It was them that the late Andrzej Lepper did not let him forget," said the MP. As he recalled, at the time Lepper was “sad and ridiculed”, but “after years past acknowledged him right”.

The things Lepper said

The Confederate MP pointed out that Lepper was not incorrect about many key issues, including the issue of CIA secret prisons in Poland, which, as he pointed out, meant "breaking the constitutional ban on torture". He besides recalled that the leader of Self-defence was unfairly portrayed as "a cham without culture", while in fact he stood out as "intellect, desire for discipline and respect for others".

“The Left of Faithfulness to God and Homeland”

Roman Fritz stressed that Lepper proved that in Poland it was possible to left, which is not cosmopolitan, but faithful to national and Christian values. "Today, what is good in the legacy of late Andrzej Lepper is present in the Confederation of the Polish Crown" - he concluded his speech.

The Member's speech was applauded.
