Michał Kołodziejczak, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and leader of Agrounia, officially announced his departure from the government. This information was confirmed on Wednesday morning, publishing open letter to Minister Czesław SiekierskiIn which he spared no bitter words for the management of the ministry. Kołodziejczak's decision ends the period 18 months of work at the Ministry of Agriculture and agrarian Developmentwho, as he himself stated, was sometimes both intense and disappointing.
Reasons for resignation: deficiency of vision, bureaucracy and frustration of farmers
In a letter published on 18 June morning, Michał Kołodziejczak accused the Ministry of Agriculture of Predominance by bureaucracy, deficiency of direction and indifference to the real needs of the Polish countryside. As he wrote:
"In the Ministry of Agriculture, bureaucracy is the only hegemon, and the deficiency of imagination and a plan no longer surprises anyone".
The politician indicated that Polish village undergoes deep transformation, which causes fear, frustration and even anger in smaller towns. According to him, the government was incapable to respond to these emotions and expectations. Kołodziejczak besides accused the management of the hotel that did not offer farmers a clear political offer, which in his opinion led to their mass drain towards the right.
“For the deficiency of a clear offer on our side, they chose a proposal from the right, which aims only to relieve the fear of the Polish Village from changes” – he said.
The Criticism of PSL and Minister of axerski
Kołodziejczak besides did not hide his disappointment in cooperation with Polish People's Party and Minister Czesław Siekierski. In his opinion, the ministry's actions were besides slow and the political effects were negligible. It was the deficiency of dynamics and real reforms that led him to public questioning of the continued sense of cooperation.
The politician besides recalled that he was ready to leave after lost presidential election Rafał Trzaskowski, which in his opinion was the consequence of, among others, the PSL run errors. In an interview with Polsat News, he said directly:
“I will not company it with my face”.
Also in the letter to Siekierski personal charges:
"It is besides sad that you have been unreflexively 'spin' to the right. Most of your comments have their roots in the communicative of those who do not agree with you.”.
Balance sheet 18 months in government
Although the decision to leave was – as Kołodziejczak assures – hard and thoughtful, it was not without indicating the positives.
"The 18 months at the Ministry of Agriculture are an invaluable time for me, but besides for the farmers I have tried to represent" said Polsat News.
He pointed out that he inactive believes in the anticipation of reforming agriculture.
"Polish agriculture can be better organised for the same and even little money" He stressed.
In his opinion, the success of joint action in the 2023 run – erstwhile Agrounia collaborated with Donald Tuski – was proof that Farmers and large city Poland can talk with 1 voice. Unfortunately, as he stated, this success "hasn't been continued in fresh presidential elections"and the actions of the PSL proved to be ineffective.
Political implications and possible scenarios
Michał Kołodziejczak's departure is not only a individual decision, but besides a signal about possible tensions within the governing coalition. Open accusations against PSL and allegations against Minister Siekierski may origin further political tensions, especially in the context of weakening support in the countryside.
Kołodziejczak clearly signaled that Government policy towards the countryside is ineffective and needs a fundamental correction. His departure may besides open the way to reactivation of Agrounia as an independent political entity or to build a fresh formation representing the interests of the village from opposition to the current coalition.
It is not yet known whether Kołodziejczak will completely retreat from politics or simply leave the government. Policy alone has not yet announced its next steps, but its speech and public speech propose that will stay active in the public debate, possibly from a fresh position.
A Future Perspective
Although Kołodziejczak did not straight indicate his political plans, his departure may constitute a turning point for agricultural policy in Poland. In the coming weeks, the attention of the media and public opinion will surely focus on Czesław Siekierski's actions and the government's consequence to increasing discontent among farmers.
It cannot be excluded that the departure of Kołodziejczak will entail further dismissals or staff corrections in the resort, especially if force from farmers and public opinion is increasing.
