Karol Nawrocki officially signed an eight-point program declaration presented by Sławomir Mentzen, leader of the Confederate. The live event brought together almost 360,000 spectators at the highest of the moment, which in itself shows how advanced public interest was.

Nawrocki’s decision sparked utmost emotions — from enthusiasm among free - marketplace right sympathizers to the voices of outrage from the more average electorate of PiS. On the 1 hand, this event exposed the tactical dimension of Nawrocki's campaign, on the another hand, forced the public to ask: does the candidate supported by the Law and Justice truly share the values of the Confederate, or is he just trying to take over her voices?

The programme declaration prepared by Sławomir Mentzen is simply a kind of freedom manifesto, clearly signaling opposition to EU regulations, state growth and centralization of power. Nawrocki's signing of the paper means accepting circumstantial requests, including:

  1. Opposition to fresh taxes and raising existing taxes "PiS candidate has committed not to sign any laws expanding the fiscal burden on citizens.
  2. Opposition to Ukraine's accession to NATO – supported by the fear of further escalation of the conflict in the East and of bringing Poland into war.
  3. Maintaining freedom of access to arms for Poles – without any fresh restrictions which, according to the Confederation, could endanger civilian liberties.
  4. Rejection of EU treaties limiting Poland's sovereignty – in peculiar those Mentzen referred to as ‘centralising power in Brussels’.
  5. Objection to Green Deal – as a program that destroys Polish agriculture and industry.
  6. Defence of cash as forms of payment – countering forced currency digitisation
  7. Reform of the judiciary – aimed at its purification and simplification.
  8. Veto to the federalisation of the European Union – unequivocal opposition to the thought of “United States of Europe”.

By signing the declaration, Nawrocks symbolically accepted part of Confederate rhetoric, becoming in the eyes of many voters its temporary representative.

For Karol Nawrocki, this motion can be a strategical movement. After the first circular of elections, in which he won about 36% of the vote, and the Confederate candidate – nearly 14%, it became clear that without gaining the Mentzen electorate there was no real chance of winning in the second round. The signing of the declaration was so a clear signal: “I am ready to represent you.”

However, specified a decision besides involves risks. A hard-core PiS electorate, attached to a statistic economical policy, social support, and a more conservative knowing of the state, can take this motion as a betrayal of the current course. any points of the declaration — specified as opposition to the Green Deal or support for wider access to weapons — argue with erstwhile declarations and actions of the Law and Justice.

Sławomir Mentzen took full advantage of the opportunity. During 1 broadcast he not only promoted his program, but besides positioned himself as a real political phase creator. Although he is not formally a candidate in the second round, his impact on the consequence may be decisive.

In the course of the meeting, there was no deficiency of gnash. Mentzen publically mentioned Nawrock's inconsistency in his statements on cadastral tax. He recalled that the PiS candidate had first expressed clear support for this form of taxation, so that, shortly later, under force from the public, he would retreat from it. This allegation was to emphasize that Nawrocki may not be full credible as a defender of free values. In addition, the issue of controversial takeover of the studio from the older resident of Gdańsk – Jerzy Ż was raised. Nawrocki repudiated the allegations, claiming that "the case is very clean for him", but any of the audience felt that it was not enough.

After the meeting, Mentzen launched a survey on his social channels, asking Confederate sympathizers if Charles Nawrocki had convinced them. Results – 61% on yes, 39% on them – show that although the motion of signing the declaration gained recognition, a large proportion of voters inactive do not trust the PiS candidate.

The comments of netizens left no illusions – many of them saw in this declaration a political effort to "buy votes". Others noted that although the demands were right, it is hard to believe that Nawrocki – as a candidate of the ruling organization for 8 years – abruptly changed his views.

Political experts agree on 1 thing: Nawrocki's movement is the most crucial turn in the run before the second round. However, their assessments are divided. any commentators praise the PiS staff strategy as an effective effort to take over the uncertain and indecisive electorate. According to them, with specified a tiny distance to the competitor, any percent of support can outweigh the balance of victory.

Others are more skeptical. They indicate that the Confederate electorate is very delicate to authenticity and hates political hypocrisy. If he senses that the declaration was just a run maneuver, he may not only not only vote for Nawrocki but besides boycott the second round.

The signing of Mentzen's declaration by Karol Nawrocki besides has a symbolic dimension. It shows evolution, or possibly even a divided inside the widely understood Polish right. On the 1 hand, we have the PiS – increasingly defensive, dependent on pension electorate and reluctant to reform. On the another hand, the Confederation, a young, aggressive formation that focuses on freedom, marketplace economy and Euroscepticism.

Bringing these 2 worlds closer could mean trying to build a fresh right-wing coalition – more radical, but besides responding to social sentiment, especially among younger voters. The question is whether specified a coalition will fall apart under the burden of common contradictions after the election.

Karol Nawrocki made a decision that could bring him to the presidential seat or cost him a political future. The signing of Sławomir Mentzen's declaration was a clear signal to the Confederate electorate, "I am ready to implement your demands." At the same time, however, he exposed himself to allegations of cynicism and betrayal of ideals, to which the erstwhile Law and Justice Line followed.

The second circular of presidential elections will be held in the shadow of this event. Whether it will bring Nawrocki triumph depends not only on his next moves, but above all on whether the Mentzen voters will believe that this is more than just a run gesture.
