Historical calendar: anniversary of suicide by influential sanatorium, Walery Sławek. There are inactive quite a few question marks about this death.
Today in our calendar we will look at the circumstances of this event.
Walery Sławek was 1 of the most crucial sideline sanatorium dictator Józef Piłsudski. Sławek was so crucial that after the death of his boss, he hoped to win him. However, Ignacy Mościcki agreed with Edward Rydze-Śmigły and Joseph Beck., for his marginalization.
The fame sensed rather rapidly the soulful atmosphere around its person. On October 12, 1935, he resigned as Prime Minister, and a fewer weeks later he dissolved the Unpartisan Block of Cooperation with the Government. In late May 1936, Sławek was removed from the position of president of the Union of Polish Legionaries. He was offered the position of president of the Institute for investigation of the Latest past of Józef Piłsudski.
Despite the failures and marginalization, The fame did not quit and began rebuilding its influence. In 1938, expressing opposition to the influences of Rydz, part of the sanctimonious MPs, voted for Sławek calling him as talker of the Sejm. He was only six months old due to the fact that president Mościcki dissolved the parliament. In the next parliamentary election, Valera Sławek did not enter the Sejm at all. The propellers and the remainder of the sanitation took care of it.
On Sunday, April 2, 1939, at the time of Piłsudski's death (meaning at 8:45 pm), staying in his flat at 16 Szucha Avenue in Warsaw, Walery Sławek shot himself in the mouth with a Browning pistol. Although he left a suicide note, he did not give any reason for his life. He only wrote:
I take my own life. Don't blame anyone. 2/IV. 1939. W. Sławek I burned private papers and besides presented to me in confidence. If not all, I ask the victims to forgive me. The All-seeing God may forgive me my sins and the last one.
Valery Sławek didn't die right away. The bullet from the old weapon is stuck in the palate. The fame almost immediately went to the infirmary and underwent surgery. His condition improved, but briefly. He died on 3 April 1939.
The ceremony was held on 5 April 1939 in Warsaw. The ceremony procession passed from the garrison church on Długa Street to the Military Cemetery on Powązki. Rydz-Smigling was not allowed into the coffin by Sławek's coworkers, who blamed him for the suicide of their prime minister.
There are many indications that the origin of suicide was the defeat of Walery Sławek in competing for a scheda after the Pilsudski dictator. It could besides be a demonstration, desperate opposition to the politics of Rydz, Beck and Muscicki. Sławek was to believe that they would lead to war and hecatomb of the Polish population.
According to any voices, Sławek was to plan a coup and overthrow Rydz-Śmigły. The unfortunate marshal was expected to find out about his plans and decide to arrest him. Sławek's suicide would be an honorary effort to settle a case without a trial that could most likely be public.
It is besides worth mentioning that Sławka's cooperation with the masonry may have been limited. It must have been the papers connected to her that he destroyed just before his suicide.
Despite the tragic move, which most likely had a origin of despair, 1 must not forget that Sławek was 1 of the architects of sanitation terror, hitting Polish patriots.
