“On the night of 26 to 27 October, we will reposition the watches for winter time, undoing the instructions from 3 to 2. Why? I don't know. It is hard to indicate now many affirmative effects of changing time for the economy. Meanwhile, the change is accompanied by chaos, advanced costs for many companies, reduced productivity and negative wellness effects,” writes Jacek Przybylski.
The publicist recalls that the "change of time" was invented by Benjamin Franklin, and in Europe first introduced in 1916 by the Reich and the allied Austro-Hungary – it has been a long time since, alternatively of profits, mainly caused losses to economies. In Poland, the practice of changing time has continued continuously since 1977."
Przybyński points out that the "change in the economical model" that has taken place in fresh decades has made "even the anticipation of longer usage of free sunlight in the morning generates any energy savings, they are marginal on a macro scale, and sometimes, by tampering with watches, energy consumption increases".
"In both macro (company or country) and micro (household). To the conclusion that the change in time is not profitable, among others, researchers from the University of California, who, on the basis of observations from residents of Iowa state, have proved that the change in time not only did not let residents to save, but besides caused the bills of individuals for energy to increase in the year of the changes by nearly $7 million."
It is now evident from the hand that the change in time generates more chaos than benefits. “The message of profits and losses, however, makes most countries in the planet no longer practice time changes,” we read.
Negative economical effects are not everything. wellness effects are equally important. "Doctors have no doubt: shifting the tips by an hr powerfully interferes with our biological clock, which is peculiarly felt by older people, children and teenagers and shift workers. Disruption of regular rhythm can origin excessive drowsiness, difficulty falling asleep or waking up, depending on the individual organism. The change in time may besides reduce productivity, increase irritation, origin problems with concentration, as well as increase the hazard of depression, as indicated by extended investigation by Danish scientists. If not enough, a biological clock disorder can besides lead to adverse changes in metabolism. Change in time is so unfavourable for people suffering from heart disease, diabetes or those with advanced cholesterol levels," the publicist says.
If "change of time" causes so many disadvantages, if it is to be abolished by the "most Europeans", why is "this nonsense being kept in force"?
"The main problem is that the countries of the European Union, depending on their geographical location (i.e. whether they lie in the north or in the south), are either in favour of permanent transition to winter or summertime time (Poland is in this case in a group of northern countries). – After the next change of time, another 1 will come, for summertime time – noted Deputy Minister of Climate Affairs. – And we want this time to be right – announced Miłosz Motyka. Will we gotta wait a fewer more months, years or years for applicable changes? I am certain that, under the influence of the EU directive, we will be moving the guidelines to at least 2026. And then what? Time will tell”, concludes Jacek Przybylski.
