"The end of the degeneration of humanity can only be accomplished through a continuous spiritual rebirth, which is carried out by the power of deep sacramental life, by the power of God's Word, by the power of God's grace, which overcomes sin and all its effects in us," taught Bishop Tarnowski Andrzej Jeż at the nationwide gathering of the Movement of the Warriors of Mary in Nowy Sącz, which took place on Saturday 15 February under the motto "Transition. Are you ready?’
These one-day retreats for men gathered about 5,000 people this time. The gathering began the rosary procession in the intention of rewarding for sins. The assembled departed from the fresh Court Square and reached the Church of Our woman of the Immaculate – the sanctuary of Saint Rita, where they listened to the evidence and then attended the solemn Holy Mass, prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
At the heart of the event, at noon, the Eucharist was held under the leadership of the bishop of Tarnów Andrzej Jeż, who stressed the Christian work to follow the fact at the time of the homily: “On our side, Catholics, there is simply a unique necessity for faithfulness to the truth, the request to defend the truth, and the request for a persistent, ever-better cognition of the truth, so as not to err and become confused. To heal the modern world, we Christians must live the fact that Christ has revealed to us. We must work on each another constantly to be consistent in the light of this truth," recalled the pastor of Tarnów diocese.
The bishop besides referred to the peculiar charism of the community of the Warriors of Mary, and explained the principles of life's struggle, which is the consequence that the first man succumbed to the thought of fresh freedom – without God and without God's law. "As Mary's warriors, we must go on this way of fighting good against evil all the time, but above all, we must begin with ourselves. It's in our conscience that all day in our lives is this powerful fight between good and evil. Here, first of all, we are the warriors of Mary, who show us the way in her immaculate conception, the way of actual freedom of man in holiness, in a similarity to God," explained Bishop Jeż.
At the end of the homily, Bishop Jeż expressed his joy at the fact that in the planet and in Poland a appropriate view of the function and vocation of a man in the Church, in society and in the household is being revived.
“We can say that this man, who by modern civilization has been driven out of his place... begins to return. And he is no longer just a device to earn, but he returns to marriage, to family, to society besides as a guide in spiritual life for his children, for his family," the bishop noted.
The Movement of the Warriors of Mary was created 10 years ago in the Salesian monastery in Ląda nad Warta at the initiative of Fr Dominic Chmielewski and rapidly grew into an global community of now more than 130 regional groups, including 20 abroad groups – in Europe and North America. Its aim is, as the founder writes, "to lead the spiritual conflict according to the rules which Mary gives: the rosary, fasting, penance."
