About 80,000 people took part on Saturday in a protest against US president Donald Trump's politics in the American city of Philadelphia.

The demonstration is part of the coordinated action of No Kings, which takes place throughout the United States on the day of the planned military parade in Washington and the birth of the American leader. More than 200 groups of civilian activists are expected to participate in the action, which takes place in more than 1,500 U.S. cities.

The name of the action is to protest against “kings” in the United States and refers to the accusations of opposition that Trump allegedly suffers from authoritarian tendencies. Trump himself denies the comparisons to the king, noting that he must go through the “circles of hell” to implement his policy.

The demonstration in Philadelphia had a peaceful run and according to the organizers it is to become the largest in the country.

"Sorry, we didn't get to your (Trumpa – ed.) party, but we paid for it. We will never be your subjects. People are sovereign and we are all equal before the law," said Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin at the rally, referring to the military parade in Washington, D.C., which takes place on the same day as Trump's birthday.

Protests in many U.S. states against Trump's politics began after the Los Angeles riots on June 7, due to the raid of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Office (ICE) for a massive operation in the city centre to identify illegal immigrants. The clashes with protesters erupted due to reports of possible cuts in national funds for the state. The following day, the White home announced the deployment of national defender troops in the city.

The military parade in Washington coincides with Trump's 79th birthday. The White home claims it's a coincidence, while the president himself previously called the parade "an unforgettable holiday", inviting everyone to attend the celebrations.
