Israeli authorities have given consent into an illegal settlement task that will divide the occupied West Bank and isolate East Jerusalem from it. MInister Bezalel Smotricz stated that "E1 to bury Palestinian State's idea".
The Jews approved the construction of the E1 settlement. The Higher Committee on civilian Administration Planning, a department subordinate to the Israeli Ministry of Defence, confirmed the alleged E1 project, which assumes construction of over 3400 houses between Jerusalem and the Ma’ale Adumi settlement on the occupied West Bank. The aim of the task is to divide the illegally occupied West Bank into 2 parts; to cut off cities in the north – Ramallah and Nablus – from Bethlehem and Hebron to the south and to isolate East Jerusalem.

According to the Palestinian Commission on Colonization and opposition to the Wall, Israel has built at least 710 settlements and military facilities on the occupied West Bank, or an average of 1 settlement per 8 square kilometres (3 square miles) since 1967.
The Palestinians emphasize that East Jerusalem remains the capital of their future state, citing global resolutions rejecting the city's business by Israel in 1967 and the later annexation of the city in 1980.
