Contrary to all assurances made by Marshal Simon Holownia, the European Commission does not intend to negociate with the government of Donald Tusk a fresh taxation on the possession of combustion cars.
The charge on combustion cars has been agreed with the erstwhile government and will depend on the amount of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions. According to sources, it is expected to enter into force in 2026 as part of the negotiations of the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO).
The temper for funds from the National Reconstruction Plan is becoming increasingly pessimistic. It has been a week since Poland received a evidence transfer from the European Commission of PLN 27 billion – in order to receive further funds, certain reforms imposed by Brussels should be introduced.
Speaker of the Sejm Simon Holovnia wrote on the portal that the government would not agree to the introduction of an EU fee approved by PiS.
It's impossible to believe that the PiS wrote a taxation on having combustion cars into KPO. This taxation will not be due to the ministers of Poland 2050 – wrote on the X Szymon Hołownia.
It's impossible to believe that the PiS wrote a taxation on having combustion cars into KPO. This taxation will not be due to ministers @PL_2050. Green order? Yeah, but for people and incentives, not warrants and bans. It's gotta be on Rusi.
— Simon Holownia (@symon_townia) March 18, 2024However, the assurance of the president of Poland 2050 is not binding because, as the deputy chief of the Ministry of Funds Jan Szyszko stated, "The Commission is not curious that it was a different authority than it is now"
The introduction of the registration fee for combustion cars is scheduled for the 4th fourth of 2024, it will be part of the excise duty. The property taxation on vehicles emitting exhaust gas is planned for the second 4th of 2026, but no work is being carried out on it at this time.
During the dialog between the Government of Donald Tusk and the EU, there was a discussion about the request to taxation all civilian law contracts, including the issue of registration fee and the taxation on combustion cars. It is worth mentioning that Poland is the only country of the European Union that has not implemented the car taxation and so the Commission remains firm on requirements. Donald Tusk's government tries in various ways to avoid public embarrassment after failing to keep another of its declarations.
