Zbigniew Okorski, honorary president of the Association of Gymnastic Societys “Sokol” in Poland and long-standing president of the Gymnastic Society “Sokol” in Warsaw, a longtime associate of the Council of the Roman Dmowski National Foundation, was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, 1 of the highest state distinctions of the Republic of Poland. The award was awarded by the president of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki.
The Order of the Revival of Poland is given to people who are peculiarly well-deserved for the state and society for outstanding achievements in public, social, educational, cultural, technological and defence activities of the country.
The honoring of Zbigniew Okorski is an expression of appreciation for nearly 4 decades of his work for the revival and improvement of Sokoltwo in Poland and building its importance in the social and patriotic life of the country. It was his determination and commitment that brought about the reactivation of the Gymnastic Society “Sokół” in Warsaw, which was first registered after years of communist illegalization on 10 January 1989. This event opened the way for the rebirth of another falcon nests and societies throughout Poland.
“Zbyszek always impressed me with the attitude of “over divisions”, he collaborated with all who could support his work of life, or revived after 1989 TG “The Falcon”. At the same time, he never, at any turn, left our native environment, i.e. first the National-Democratic Party, and then the weekly Weekly of Think Poland."
