Belarusian authorities reportedly wage a hybrid war against Poland, and Poland reportedly only defends itself and does nothing wrong. The facts deny it, and 1 of them is the freedom of journalists to act. On the Belarusian side, there is no state of emergency, which means that any activity of Belarus in that area is public, anyone can evidence it or otherwise immortalise it. Of course, the border is not completely unsupervised by the Belarusian services, but journalists are very free to act. In fact, there have been reports from the border itself since the start of the migration crisis. First, they were only reports by Belarusian journalists. Russian journalists later joined. Russia present utilized even any Western news agencies, and Sputnik made live broadcasts.
As events unfolded, yet and Western press agencies appeared on the Belarusian side. Live connections are hosted by the American Cable News Network (CNN) and the state-owned British Radio corp (BBC). There are besides fresh York Times and Routers journalists on site. I'm certain there'll be more soon.
Polish journalists, if they were honest, would besides effort to enter the border lane from Belarus. There were just specified announcements from the Belarusian authorities that this is an chance for Polish journalists. But it would not fit the narrative, that “Belarus is sowing misinformation” and that “it closes independent Polish journalists like Andrzej Stanisławowicz Poczobut”.
The entry of Western media into Belarus into a place close the border does not mean that they have abruptly become reliable and applicable to Belarus. However, by force, erstwhile conducting reports from there, they must present any of the events which are uncomfortable for Poland, specified as direct talks with immigrants or the actions of Polish services standing right next to them. The Polish authorities have again compromised themselves. Polish mass media, on the another hand, fell tiny into consternation.
