Friday, June 13, 2024, Paweł Karbowicz resigned as Deputy Finance Minister. According to the Polish Press Agency, the decision was taken for individual reasons and his resignation was already accepted by the ministry.

Who was Paul Karbowicz?

Paweł Karbowicz has served as Deputy Minister of Finance since 13 December 2023, that is, since the establishment of the current government of Donald Tusk. However, his experience in politics and administration is much wider. From 2014 to 2019 he was an advisor to Donald Tusk erstwhile he served as president of the European Council for G7, G20 and the strategical agenda of the European Union.

He previously worked at the Ministry of abroad Affairs as a deputy manager in the EU economical Department, where he was responsible, among others, for programming the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in 2011 and for imposing sanctions on Russia in 2014. The carbologist besides has experience in the European Parliament, where he worked in the Committee on economical and Monetary Affairs.

He is simply a postgraduate of finance and banking at Warsaw School of Economics.

Is this the beginning of major changes in government?

Karbnik's smoke may be a announcement of wider changes in Donald Tusk's office. The Prime Minister announced during his exposé in the Sejm that the government would be "new opening" in July.

I'm not talking about changing names here, but mostly about changing the structure of the government. (...) People who decided to take work for Poland worked in very infunctional structures that we inherited from PiS-e. After a year and a half of government, the structure of government must be changed. I'm certain fresh faces will appear said Tusk.

Does this mean further dismissals in the coming weeks? Everything indicates that the government is waiting for reorganization, and personnel changes can only be its beginning.
