In the latest issue of "The Weekly of the Common" an interview with Father Louis Wiśniewski, a Dominican, was published. The 88-year-old clergyman, known for his controversial statements, summarizes his life in it. From the text you can catch a very interesting thread – the astonishing attitude of the editor of the "TP" to criticism of the Church and criticism of abortion.
"The Confession of Father Ludwik Wiśniewski" is the title of an interview with an aged Dominican. In it Father Wiśniewski tells about his life, vocation, attitude. Let us remind that this well-deserved clergyman in the period of the Polish People's Republic, in fresh years, has remained a priest, speaking gently, not very favorable to conservatives and their postulates. He frequently criticized Radio Maryja, PiS and conservative bishops.
His views have frequently been exposed by the "Wszystkie Tygodnik" – 1 of the louder covers of this magazine in the last decade became the title "Oskarżam" with his father Wiśniewski exposed on the cover. “Here, before our eyes, Christianity dies in Poland. And it is not the consequence of libertian propaganda, masonry circles or global plots. Christianity is rooted out by ourselves, clergymen and the hottest members of the Church, with our own hands and at our own request... What happened? We have introduced a spiritual component into our religion that is spreading it: hostility. We are not only infected, but we are utilized to it: it has become to any degree our trademark. And where there is hostility, there is simply a right of citizenship with hatred – the enemy must be destroyed. So you can spit, mock and trample on people, falsely accuse them of wickedness and even crimes, and at the same time invoke the Gospel, dress up in the feathers of the defender of Christian values and the Church, make pilgrimages to Jasna Góra, lay holy hands for prayer and show a praying face in the media. After all, it is no longer Christianity, but its parody," wrote the Dominican. He added that the attitude of Poles to immigrants was "an anticatechesis about refugees".
The "Wszystko Tygodnik" besides utilized Fr.Wiśniewski's thesis to fight the Catholic principles of the protection of life proposed by conservative politicians and activists. In the fall of 2020, after the already celebrated judgement of the Constitutional Court, a Dominican pointed out to the Church the alleged errors in this matter. "It is hard to realize why this was for our bishops. The regulation of law in the State is not part of their tasks,” that article, titled “The Man Before the Law” began. The author did not in any way support abortion there, but felt that the law should not necessarily defend the lives of unborn disabled people and the Church, as well as secular Catholics, should not appeal for it in specified a society.
This is where an interesting communicative begins – due to the fact that from the interview printed in the fresh issue of “Tygodnik” we learn that Fr.Wiśniewski 2 weeks after sending a text criticizing Catholics for opposition to the admissibility of abortion, sent another text to the editors – this time criticizing the leaders of disgusting “Women’s Strikes”. However, the text of her coworker and authority... was rejected. Why? due to the fact that he didn't criticize Catholics, he criticized feminists.
Here's an interview piece:
O. Wiśniewski: I'm 88. In fresh years, my relation with the Weekly has been frozen. I knew I had to come back. At times I was afraid I might not make it.
Journalist ‘TP’: It was about the Women's Strike. In early November 2020, the Father printed in our pages a courageous analysis of the errors the Church made in this matter. After respective days, we received a second text in which the Father taught the organizers.
O. Wiśniewski:What Arthur said is your vision. Mine's different. The second text in question is not a text about the Women's Strike or a replay. This can be checked due to the fact that it was printed in "Plus Minus". I've never put so much heart into anything in my life. It was expected to be a full saying about abortion. I wrote it as a testament to my life. possibly it's funny, but it's true. Meanwhile, the “Tygodnik” who praised me many times, who is my brother and friend, did not make the proposition that I should correct this, but simply rejected the article. In my decision, there was besides a bit of surprise that I experienced erstwhile on the cover you printed the distorted figure of Fr Rydzyk and the text as the title of my article: “Who destroys the Church?”.
The mentioned text by Fr Wiśniewski did indeed appear in “Plus and Minus” under the title “Ludwik Wiśniewski OP. Abortion is simply a disgraceful act”. The article begins with the words: “The judgement of the Constitutional Court of 22 October provoked righteous anger. However, the form of that anger has taken on a disturbing dimension. The question of the absolute and fundamental value of human life destroys man and society."
As you can see, even specified expressions as “right anger” were not adequate to convince the “Wise Tygodnik” to print the text of his friend and authority. The “open Catholics” were besides not adequate to say in this text: “For many people the Court’s ruling was outrageous. A fragile compromise was destroyed and a meaningless 1 began War. It has been found that, at the request of the ruling organization and the Church, the Court orders mothers to produce fetuses with fatal malformations, without any chance of recovery or survival, or even more, threatening criminal responsibility, to produce fetuses completely deformed."
Thus, it seems that the Church in the "Common Week" can so be criticized, priests, bishops, lay pro-life activists – absolutely. The more the better. But feminists? A child-killing promoter in the wombs? Never!
