Tusk: “Russia is to be ready in 3-4 years against individual importantly larger”

Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed that according to intelligence, Russia invests heavy in its mobilization capabilities.

"There is no uncertainty that Russia is investing present and besides gaining mobilization capabilities on a scale that indicates that it is curious in being ready for a full-scale operation not against Ukraine, but individual much larger," he said during the Friday session of the Sejm.

These reports come from intelligence sources that European leaders shared at the Thursday summit in Brussels. The Prime Minister stressed that this information should not be underestimated and Poland must take appropriate safety measures.

In consequence to possible threats, Prime Minister Tusk announced the introduction of universal military training for all adult man in Poland.

"By the end of the year we want to have a ready-made model of training on a large scale", the Prime Minister revealed.

The intent of this program is to make a half-million-dollar army, including reservists, allowing an adequate consequence to possible threats. The national defence minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, stressed that training would not be a compulsory military service, but a form of voluntary training with appropriate incentives.

The Prime Minister besides referred to changes in American abroad policy towards Europe.

"Poland does not change its opinion on the absolutely fundamental request to keep the closest possible ties with the US and the North Atlantic Pact. This is absolutely undisputed," said Tusk.

He besides stressed that Poland cannot afford a passive attitude towards possible changes in the strategy of allies.

"We must not be offended by reality. Each state, and especially specified a power as the US, has the right and work to form its abroad policy and its strategy. But all country, including Poland, has the right and work to justice very accurately and precisely what is in our interest, in the interests of our safety and what can make a problem," said the Prime Minister.

In the face of rising global tensions, Poland plans to increase its defence spending.

"Europe begins to realize that, since the United States is so afraid that, for understandable reasons... we anticipate much more responsibility, investment, determination, courage if needed, this must be met," said Tusk.

The Prime Minister besides announced that Poland promotes the thought of establishing a separate Arms Bank, which could act like the European Investment Bank, but would be dedicated exclusively to financing defence issues.

"We must think strategically and in the long term, due to the fact that the threats will not vanish and Europe cannot trust solely on others," he added.

In the face of information about Russia's possible preparations for conflict with a greater opponent than Ukraine, Poland is taking decisive steps to strengthen its security. The planned universal military training and increased defence spending aim to prepare the country for possible threats and guarantee stableness in the region.

"The time for discussion is over. Now is the time for concrete action," Tusk concluded.
