Tusk and Kaczyński have already decided. What's the election about?

I don't want to compose that this is the most crucial election in over 30 years, due to the fact that it's a cliché. But it will surely be an crucial election. We decide in them whether Poland will be in the hands of 1 party. And it's a organization whose leader is simply a man possessed by the thought of "a fighting democracy."

As in the PO, there were no primaries – the thought of choosing between Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski was imposed from the top by Donald Tusk – just as the PiS candidate for president, Dr. Karol Nawrocki, was not elected by any civilian Convention, but by Jarosław Kaczyński. The Head of Law and Justice may have consulted this thought with a narrow group of influential conservative politicians and intellectuals, but the final decision was made by him and his political gunmen.

If I believed that Charles Nawrocki had been elected by any mysterious civilian assembly, I would have asked a fewer questions right away. Who convened the convention in the Kraków hall “Sokół”? What precisely was the procedure for selecting a citizen candidate? On what basis could the right to vote be obtained? I besides feel like a citizen of the 3rd Republic, and I would be happy to vote in specified elections, but I have not received any information that they are taking place at all. And I guess I'm no exception.

The mockery aside. Jarosław Kaczyński and Donald Tusk have already selected their candidates to run for president. Knowing most of the another aspiring ones, it is worth yet answering the celebrated question: what will these elections be about?

Abduction of the pack

I'm going to disappoint everyone who thinks I'm going to track down any social emotion here. I do not know whether Poland's safety will be the main subject of the campaign, although it can be assumed with almost 100% certainty that it will. I do not know to what degree the issue of the improvement model will matter, which, although it is simply a complex matter, interests Poles, due to the fact that our aspirations are growing. We don't want to catch up with the West anymore, we want to compete with it. We don't have complexes. We want things to be the way they are, even better.

But it can all be another time. Leaving the emotions of the electorates aside, it seems that it is crucial whether the Civic Platform, winning the Namestnikowski Palace, will focus its full power.

Let us remember how much havoc the Law and Justice did with the majority in both chambers and the President. This period was a time of large political degeneration – the value of the law fell dramatically, many, lame, but nevertheless necessary, institutions were besides violated.

The PO does the same, only more. The Law and Justice brought on banners a noble slogan about moral and political renewal, which someway inhibited him from being besides violent. In addition, the voters of this organization were not greedy for political vendetta on opponents. The SS drew his mandate from social aspirations which he wanted to satisfy, and which he could not service the PO.

The Tusk organization – otherwise: it is guided solely by the desire for revenge. It is no coincidence that the thought programme of the head of the PO is simply a "fighting democracy", that is, the readiness to suspend democratic principles for opponents of democracy. Who's the enemy? This, of course, is decided by the PO and its social and intellectual background. It may be Jarosław Kaczyński, but it may besides be a group of citizens. For example, officials hanging crosses in the Church or people marching through the streets of Warsaw all year under the banners of the march of independence. Or the parents of children who want to influence n what their children learn in school.

If Tusk gets his president, the words erstwhile made mockingly by Sikorski about "throwing the pack" will become reality. Rafał Trzaskowski is simply a full-blooded platformer: built of a large-city void of resentment towards provinces and cultural roots, bound by the mortar of anti-scriptive emotion. If he wins, the strategy closes. Polarisation will intensify, tighten the dispute between the PiS and the PO, and Poland will truly change: all reforms that the Tuska organization wants to mobilise its voters will be completed. So legalized partnerships or abortion on request. Tusk treats these subjects instrumentally, he knows that present it is crucial for his constituents, and Trzaskowski is simply a keen supporter of the expulsion from public space of everything that refers in any way to Christian values.

The 2025 presidential elections will so be about whether we truly want 1 organization to focus all the power in its hand.

Control and brake

Those who want Poland to be safe, i.e. besides 1 in which political balance prevails and respect for rights and civilian liberties, should support in the upcoming elections a candidate another than a PO candidate. It does not necessarily should be the alleged citizen candidate, Karol Nawrocki. The package is not limited to 2 competitors.

Let us remember that the veto-armed president is possibly a worthless institution, but he provides 1 thing: control and the anticipation of suppressing possible totalitarian attempts of the government. These are not peculiarly creative competences, but thanks to them the head of state can make Poland not the property of 1 party, which was already close for 8 years to the regulation of the Law and Justice.

Let us repeat: this is the real rate of these elections.
