The Zionist administration of Donald Trump, applied Wednesday, sanctions on 4 officials of the global Criminal Court (ICC), including a justice who approved warrants for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and erstwhile defence Minister Yoava Gallant.
Trump imposed sanctions on the ICC judge, pursuing Netanjah. The Office of abroad Asset Control (OFAC) of the Treasury Department added Nicolas Yanna Guillou, Nahhat Shameem Khan, Mame Mandiaye Niang and Kimberly Prost to the list of alleged "Specially Marked Citizens" (OFAC). The State Department reported that Justice Guillou was punished for authorising warrants for the arrest of Netanjahu and Gallant, while the Rects endanger to sanction US personnel investigations in Afghanistan.
Guillou, a French lawyer, sits in the First Preparatory Chamber of the global Criminal Court, which issued warrants for the arrest of Netanyahu and Gallant in November 2024. The warrants concern charges against both officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity, committed by their order in the ghetto of Gaza.
Deputy Prosecutors Khan and Niang have been sanctioned for ‘continuously supporting the illegal activities of the ICC against Israel’, including for maintaining arrest warrants issued against Israeli leaders since they took prosecutorial positions.
The State Department reported that sanctions were imposed under the Executive Regulation 14203, which aims to punish "the malicious actions of the global Criminal Court" and aims to bring consequences to those who commit "infractions against the United States and Israel".
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused 4 officials and the ICC of trying "to conduct investigations, arrests, detentions or prosecutions of citizens of the United States or Israel without the consent of any of these countries".
"The United States clearly and firmly opposes the politicisation of the global Criminal Court, abuse of power, disregard for our national sovereignty and unlawful abuse of judicial power" – stated in a statement, calling the Court a threat to the national safety of Washington and Tel Aviv.
All property and interests of persons sanctioned in the US or controlled by US citizens are now blocked. Entities whose 50% or more of the shares belong to persons subject to sanctions are besides subject to sanctions.
OFAC besides published a general licence authorising the termination of existing transactions with sanctioned persons up to 00:01 east Time (04:01 GMT time) 19 September this year. Payments must be made to blocked, interest-bearing accounts in the US, preventing persons subject to sanctions from accessing funds.
Recall: The Trump Administration imposed sanctions on the ICC and Prosecutor Karim Khan as early as February, accusing the Court of "illegal and groundless actions aimed at the US and our close ally, Israel".
