I would like to mention that Bircza's defenders in 1945 – 1947 heroically repelled 4 criminal attacks against the village, carried out by the UPA's degenerates, whose goal was to completely annihilate both the village itself, as well as to exterminate as to one, about 2 1000 Polish residents of Bircza and refugees from another towns of Przemyski's Pogórze, who found in it a rescue and shelter against the genocide panic of the UPA band, and 1 of respective sots attacking in those years this heroic fortress of Podkarpacia, was the UPA sotnia commanded by Mikhail Duda – Hromenka, besides liable for the bestial killing on fourteen Polish soldiers, carried out on July 24, 1946 in a forest close Jawornik Ruski, the municipality of Bircza.
