Sławomir Mentzen.
Yesterday I met president Andrzej Duda. The gathering was conducted in a kind atmosphere, very constructive. Most of the time we talked about the most crucial issues for Poland.
The first issue is the current constitutional crisis. The government selectively does not accept ultimate Court judgments, does not recognise the Constitutional Court. There is simply a immense hazard that the authorities will not recognise the results of the presidential election unless they are won by Rafał Trzaskowski. This chaos and anarchy, which led to democracy fighting Tusk, is simply a immense threat to Poland and Poles.
I presented to the president our proposals for a constitutional reset, i.e. the election of fresh judges of the ultimate Court, the Constitutional Court and members of the National Judicial Council by a constitutional majority by the Sejm. This would force both parties, namely the Law and Justice Offices, to compromise and let to end the expanding crisis of the regulation of law in Poland. president Andrzej Duda addressed this proposal very kindly, agreed that this would let the current anarchy to end. I besides presented the thought of holding a referendum on the day of the presidential election, in which Poles could talk on how to end the ongoing crisis.
We are inactive working on these ideas and trying to solve the current hard situation.
Then we discussed the case of possible sending Polish soldiers to Ukraine. We both agreed that the Polish Army should not be sent to Ukraine, even after the truce was concluded. I am very pleased due to the fact that this view, which I have been making for a long time, is not supported by many Polish politicians who want to hazard bringing Poland into conflict with Russia.
Finally, we discussed the ongoing pre-campaign. Mr. president wanted me to tell you. He saw that, like him 10 years ago, I conducted a very intense run across Poland, trying to organize meetings with voters in all district.
Such meetings between politicians should be average and standard. For the sake of Poland, it is worth talking and looking for solutions, even despite political differences. I hope that I can work in the interest of Poland and Poles again in the Presidential Palace.
Impossible doesn't exist!
