The wellness ministry of the Tusk government announced a major improvement of infirmary management. It is about their consolidation, reorganization of branches and a fresh “map of benefits”. Details of the government plan presented on the website GazetaPrawna.pl, Izolda Hukalowicz.

Health Ministry announces infirmary reform. Changes are expected to enter into force as early as 2025.

"Reform is intended to let the conversion of branches with acute surgical profile into planned ones. In addition, competition between hospitals for doctors is to be eliminated, especially for those with close location. The improvement yet seeks to consolidate medical and human resources, which aims to increase treatment efficiency and reduce infirmary debt. By consolidating, hospitals will not be forced to compete for specialists, which is to minimize costs and improve work organisation" – written on the website.

Planned amendments shall include:

– adoption by Parliament of a law reforming the infirmary system,
– entry into force of the deregulation package, which will reduce the administrative burden on the institutions,
– start transferring procedures from hospitals to outpatient specialist care.

"Deregulation package aims to simplify formalities and reduce the costs of functioning of facilities, which should translate into greater availability of patient benefits" - We read.

As Hukalowicz explained, in practice we will deal with, among others, the transformation of branches based on their specializations.

The Ministry of wellness emphasises that the task aims at the long-term financial stableness of hospitals where high-quality services will be implemented adequate to local needs.

OUR COMMENTS: Everything points to another effort to powder the corpse. We fear that the only effect of the “reform” will be to make additional costs and further deepen the collapse of the Polish wellness service.

We besides recommend: There will be a fresh tribute of Warsaw to Ukraine
