Since 1 July millions of Polish families can relax. PGNiG Retail Trading from the Orlen Group introduced the largest gas price simplification in years, which will automatically reduce bills by nearly 15 percent. For owners of single-family homes, this means savings of up to a 1000 zlotys per year. Most importantly, the lower price will be charged automatically, without the request to submit any applications or annex contracts.
The decision of the Energy Regulatory Authority (URE), which approved the fresh tariff, is simply a direct effect of stabilising the European natural materials markets and an effective purchasing policy of the state-owned company. fresh lower rates will include not only households but besides susceptible entities, specified as hospitals, schools or kindergartens, which will bring relief to public institutions' budgets. This is simply a real and tangible change that will affect the finances of over 7 million recipients throughout Poland.
Automatic relief without any conclusions. How does this work in practice?
The most crucial information for PGNiG clients Retail turnover is the fact that the gas price simplification is full automatic. This means that recipients do not gotta take any action – neither call the hotline, nor submit applications, nor sign fresh documents. The change will be included in the clearing strategy and will appear on the nearest invoice issued after 1 July.
The mechanics is simple. The Energy Regulatory Authority approved a fresh tariff in which the price of gas fuel itself was reduced from the erstwhile PLN 239.65 per megawatt hr (MWh) to PLN 204,26/MWh. That's a drop of precisely 14.8 percent. The price per kilowatt hr (kWh) fell from almost 24 net grots to little than 20,5 net grots in terms of the more understandable unit to the recipients.
This seemingly tiny difference in unit price translates into circumstantial savings per period and year. all utilized cubic metre of gas will be cheaper from now on, which Poles will feel especially in the upcoming heating season, erstwhile the consumption of blue fuel is highest.
Even a 1000 gold savings a year. Who gets the most?
The savings scale is straight linked to gas consumption. According to URE experts calculations, the top benefits will be felt by the owners of single-family houses who usage gas to heat the building, water heating and cooking.
For example, a household of 4 surviving in a well-warmed home of 140 square meters, Annual savings on accounts will be around PLN 890 gross. In many cases, with a somewhat higher consumption or an older installation, this amount can easy exceed PLN 1000. It's money that stays in the home budget and can be spent on another needs.
Smaller locals will besides benefit:
- Apartment in the block (water heating and cooking): The two-person household will save about 353 gross gold per year.
- Apartment in a block (only cooking): Those utilizing gas only for the preparation of meals will pay about 42 PLN little each year.
The simplification covers all household tariff groups, so all PGNiG client Retail, regardless of consumption, will pay less.
Lower bills besides for hospitals and schools. crucial relief for the public sector
A fresh lower gas tariff is an excellent message not only for individual customers but besides for the public sector as a whole. Under the rules, tariff protection is covered by alleged susceptible entities. This means that hospitals, clinics, social services homes, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, as well as accommodation facilities and another relief institutions will besides benefit from the reduction.
For those units whose budgets are frequently very tight, A 15% simplification in heating costs is simply a crucial financial burden relief. In the case of a large infirmary or school complex, yearly savings can scope as much as a twelve 1000 zlotys. The resources saved can be allocated to the statutory objectives – better equipment of classrooms, the acquisition of modern medical equipment or the improvement of surviving conditions of subjects.
This is peculiarly crucial in the context of rising maintenance costs. Lower gas bills will let the directors of the facilities to more flexible financial management and investment in key areas of activity.
How to read a fresh bill? The simplification concerns 1 component
To full realize the scale of savings, it is worth remembering that the gas bill consists of respective elements. The simplification announced by 14.8% applies to only prices of gas fuel alone. This component usually accounts for around 60-70% of the full amount on the invoice.
The another parts of the account stay unchanged. These are:
- Distribution fees: Costs related to the transport of gas by transmission and distribution networks to the final customer. Their tallness depends on the network operator in the area.
- Subscription fee: Permanent, monthly fee covering client service, billing and billing costs.
In practice, this means that the full gas bill will not fall by 15%, but by somewhat little – the actual simplification on the full invoice will be between 8% and 11%, depending on the fee structure. Nevertheless, this is inactive a very noticeable relief, which will translate into hundreds of gold savings per year.
Prices are unchangeable all year round. What's behind Orlen's decision?
The tariff approved by URE will apply for the next 12 months. This means that lower gas prices are guaranteed from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. This gives households and institutions certainty and stability, allowing precise budget planning for the upcoming heating season.
As the representatives of the Orlen Group emphasize, the simplification was possible thanks to a thoughtful purchasing strategy. PGNiG Retail Rotation, as the largest player in the Polish market, serving nearly 7 million customers, contracts gas deliveries in advance, even 2 years ahead. This allows for the usage of periods of favourable economical activity on stock exchanges and averaging the acquisition price, protecting customers from abrupt fluctuations.
President of Orlenu, Ireneusz Fąfara, pointed out that this is the next step of the company towards providing Poles with the lowest possible energy, just after the introduction of vacation promotions for fuel. This decision shows that a unchangeable gas marketplace situation in Europe combined with the marketplace power of a large capital group can bring real benefits to millions of consumers.
