According to the Ministry of Culture, which is to exhume victims of Ukrainian genocide, the locations concerning the exhumation work will not be public “because of the delicate nature of the case”.
Deputy Minister Marta Cienkowska, drawn by language, stated that the government does not want to disclose information about where exhumation works will be carried out due to concerns about the presence of Polish media or influencers. It is worth pointing out that respective exhumations in present-day Ukraine have already taken place. In 2014, exhumation works were held in the village of Ostrówówka, where UPA murdered 1051 Poles. Exhumations were then dealt with by the independency Foundation. Among the people who took up this task were employees of the Foundation, volunteers, scientists. So the social side was very present and the problems with the work were none. Between 2017 and 2024 IPN 9 times tried to get an exhumation licence from Ukrainian authorities in a full of 65 locations. The Ukrainians did not agree to any of them.
