After the amount of state backing for the home of Social Assistance established by Fr Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski has been drastically reduced, the Radwanowice centre is on the verge of bankruptcy. If the funds from the authorities do not arrive soon, the work of a courageous priest will go bankrupt and the charges will go on the streets.
In an interview with the onet.pl portal, the manager of the Social Assistance Centre in Radowowice, founded by Fr Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski, spoke about the critical situation in which he was led by the Fr Albert DPS Foundation.
The center is facing financial bankruptcy. This is simply a problem that affects many akin institutions, says Arkadiusz Tomasiak. However, as added by the guardian established by the deceased priest at the beginning of the year, government funds allocated to support the operation of the centre were peculiarly severely limited.
– Each individual placed in the DPS before 2004 is paid by the voivode, i.e. the government, each year fixing the average provincial amount of the monthly cost of living. As for our homes, about 7 1000 PLN. I know that housing in large cities costs up to PLN 10,000 per month. The problem is that residents accounted for "old rules" since January have PLN 3800 of backing per person, although in December this amount was PLN 4360. We at the center in Radnowowice, our largest DPS, have 40 specified people – explained the manager of DPS in Radnowowice during the interview.
Thus, as the interviewer Onet pointed out, since the beginning of the year, in the current situation the hotel had to patch a budget gap of respective 100 1000 zlotys. In a akin situation there are many institutions of this kind in the country, but for the centre of the Brat Albert Foundation the grant was reduced peculiarly severely.
Government subsidies have always been lower than needs, but they have been reduced to a smaller degree all year, says Arkadiusz Tomasiak. A change of respective 100 zlotys per capita poses a serious hazard of bankruptcy.
The hazard of specified a problem has long been recognised and warned by the authorities. Unfortunately – unsuccessfully. Tomasiak explained that neither talking to old age nor acting on a larger scale helped.
– We founded the National Forum of Social Assistance Houses led on the Order, which first operated at the provincial level, and since May it is nationwide. We have already signaled to the voivode and the Ministry that we will run out of money in the current system. That we can't last for the remainder of the year— The manager mentioned it. – You gotta realize that the strategy is so organized that the DPS have been a patient for many years who inactive needs an IV. But this year, the IV hasn't been connected, and we're already dying. – he added.
– There was no reaction. I besides know that Environmental Self-Help Houses tried to meet with Minister Dziemianowicz-Bąk, but besides failed. They only received an invitation erstwhile Polsat tv broadcast it. It's just that the ministry doesn't care about us at all, although it has to realize that a simplification of almost PLN 600 per capita backing is simply a fatal blow to us. – concluded Arkadiusz Tomasiak. As he mentioned, representatives of the centre besides tried to contact the members of the ruling camp. However, MPs PO and the Left did not respond to any contact from the institution.
The situation is so dramatic that, as the DPS maintainer assured, if support from the government does not arrive in October, the centre will should be shut down. As he added, shortages of resources were a permanent problem, but deficiencies in later months were complemented by additional support from state reserves. But this time it did not.
Arkadiusz Tomasiak declared that he could not explain why the representatives of the state are deaf to the information about the possible bankruptcy of the institution.
