BANGKOK- Thai Airways (TG) is set to modernize its fleet with the introduction of Airbus A321neo aircraft, bringing flat-bed business class to regional flights. The first aircraft delivery is expected in November 2025, marking a significant step in the airline’s fleet renewal.

The new A321neo jets will initially operate from Bangkok (BKK) to destinations including Delhi (DEL), Hong Kong (HKG), and Phuket (HKT). This move reflects Thai Airways’ efforts to enhance passenger experience while streamlining operations after discontinuing its Thai Smile subsidiary.

Thai Airways A321neo Business Class

Thai Airways has placed an order for 32 Airbus A321neos, leased under agreements signed in early 2024. Deliveries are set to begin in late 2025, with scheduled service starting in early 2026.

Historically, the airline avoided narrow-body aircraft in its mainline fleet, relying instead on Thai Smile’s Airbus A320s.

After the subsidiary’s closure, those aircraft were absorbed into the parent carrier, prompting Thai Airways to invest in a more competitive narrow-body strategy.

Reported by OMAAT, the A321neos are designed to compete in Asia’s demanding aviation market, where customer expectations for comfort and service are especially high.

The aircraft will enable Thai Airways to better serve short to medium-haul routes while offering a premium cabin experience.

Business and Economy Class Layout

Each A321neo will feature 175 seats, split into 16 business class and 159 economy class. Business class will use Thompson Aero’s Vantage product, known for its staggered seating arrangement.

The layout alternates between 2-2 and 1-1 rows, ensuring several rows with direct aisle access and flat-bed seating for premium travelers.

Economy class will follow a 3-3 configuration, equipped with seat-back entertainment screens, power outlets, and charging ports.

Wi-Fi will be available across all cabins for purchase, ensuring connectivity throughout the journey.

Routes and Deployment Plans

AeroRoutes confirms that the first A321neo flights will operate from Bangkok (BKK) to Delhi (DEL), Hong Kong (HKG), and Phuket (HKT), with additional routes to follow.

As deliveries progress, these aircraft will take on a significant share of Thai Airways’ regional network.

Their range and efficiency also allow the airline to serve competitive markets where passenger demand requires both comfort and reliability.
