Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz admitted on September 15 that he had not seen the study given to Prime Minister Donald Tusk by CIA manager John Ratcliffe. The head of the MON assures him that he receives the essential information, but the opposition speaks of chaos. For Poles, the flow of data on Russian threats and the real readiness of the state is at stake.
Minister without access to the document
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Tuesday's program "Guest of Events" that he had not seen the CIA director's report. The paper went to Donald Tusk and, according to the Prime Minister's earlier words, concerns possible events in the coming months, including Russian hybrid actions on the east flank of NATO. The specified fact that the Minister of Defence has not read the paper of this rank requires a clear explanation.
The case does not concern political curiosity or access to any card circulating between the services. The question is whether the man in charge of the Ministry of Defence knows the full image of the threats on which the government makes decisions. A fewer days earlier Kosiniak-Kamish warned against Russian sabotage and exchanged arson, airspace violations and GPS interference. All the more amazing is the deficiency of individual cognition of the report.
The opposition accuses the government of chaos
Mariusz Błaszczak, PiS MP and erstwhile defence minister, declared that he was shocked. He estimated that the Prime Minister had hidden the study from his deputy and called the situation “Bantustan”. Paweł Jabłoński of the improvement Plus Club has put 2 options: Donald Tusk either presents information to the public without coverage, or has crucial data and does not pass it on to the head of the MON. This is simply a political allegation, not a fixed fact, but the government should respond to it in concrete terms.
Jabłoński besides pointed out the deficiency of clear preparations and warnings for citizens. Criticism is all the more serious as the government itself builds a message about the strength of Russian provocations. In fresh days Poland raised the readiness of the services at the east borderand the hybrid threat has ceased to be an abstract expression from press conferences.
Government ensures good flow of information
Kosiniak-Kamysz replied that a gathering with the Prime Minister and a gathering of the safety Committee of the Council of Ministers took place on Monday. The government should make it clear whether the head of the MON has learned all the defence arrangements that have been made and who is liable for their implementation. The secrecy of the study does not justify confusion in the division of responsibility. erstwhile Russian attacks approaching the Polish border, the State must operate in a transparent hierarchy, even if the operational details stay confidential.
State safety must not depend on speculation
Poles do not request to know the contents of a secret CIA document. However, they have the right to know that the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the Service and the Army are working in the same image of the situation. A power that warns citizens of sabotage and provocation takes on the work to show a functioning consequence mechanism.
That's where the stakes lie. If the information is transmitted correctly, the government should show it without covering itself with generals. If the data cycle fails, immediate repair is needed. The safety of Poland cannot be based on the assurance of the Ombudsman that everything works, while the head of the MON publically admits that the basic study has not been seen.
