Support for the introduction of the euro is decreasing. But 1 3rd of Poles inactive support them

The support for the introduction of "in a fewer years" European currency in Poland is presently 30.7%, which represents a decrease from 34.9% year to year – according to a survey commissioned by the Foundation for economical Freedom. As noted, a strong decline in support took place among women.

The full support for the introduction of the euro in Poland in a fewer years decreased from 34.9% in 2023 to 30.7% now – the information describing the survey carried out on behalf of the economical Freedom Foundation. It was besides reported that opposition to the euro increased from 50.8% to 56.5%. Respondents answered the question: "Are you in general for or against the thought to introduce the euro in Poland in a fewer years?"

According to the authors of the study, a peculiarly strong decline in support for the adoption of the euro took place among women. The introduction of the euro for respective years now supports 28.5% women (in 2023 it was 33.9%) and 34.1% men (36% in 2023). It was pointed out that "women crystallise their views on the euro" - compared to 2023, the percent of women responding "difficult to say".

It was besides added that among the voters of individual political parties the highest support for the introduction of the euro was declared by voters of the Civic Coalition (57%), but the percent of votes "for" in this group fell by 10.6 percent points compared to 2023. At the same time, more than 30% of respondents believe that we should not adopt the single currency at all.

"The attitude towards the euro is very much based on general political sympathy, and in much little determined by age, education or residence," said Marek Góra and Robert Sobiech, quoted in the press release. They besides explained that, as the survey revealed, the voters of the party's current ruling coalition are alternatively affirmative about the euro, but the representatives of these parties stay silent about it or even cut off from it as if it were invalid. "Political divisions are crucial. The voters are influenced by the arguments that the organization they support will give," added Mount and Sobiech.

As reported in a publication presenting the results of the study, the proposal to start preparations for the adoption of the single currency is much more supportive. Nearly 40% of respondents said that they wanted Poland to start specified preparations. Among the KO voters, supporters were over 71.8%. In the case of the Left, this thought supports 60.7% of the questions asked, and for the 3rd Way voters the consequence is 55.8%. In the case of PiS and Confederacy voters, there are definitely less respondents – 24.4%, 22.8 percent, respectively. It was besides noted that among the PiS voters the thought does not support nearly 80 percent of respondents.

The information besides indicates that men than women are more in favour of starting preparations for the adoption of the euro. It was added that a peculiarly strong simplification in support takes place among women. Among them, compared to 2023, the decrease was 9.1 pp. and 2.2 pp. among men.

The CAWI survey was conducted by SW investigation in April 2024 on a typical example of 1017 adult Polish residents. The erstwhile survey was conducted in the spring of 2023 on the same sample. It was added that the aim of the survey was to reconstruct social attitudes towards the single currency of the euro and to learn about the changes in the period between these studies.
