"Stop drug pornography" – there is simply a collection of signatures on the regulation of children's access to net pornography

"Pornography acts like a drug. He's an addict. It destroys relationships. It has a peculiarly devastating effect on children who unfortunately have mass access to it. Almost everyone agrees that children request to be protected from this and nothing happens. This needs to be changed" – that is the aim of the citizens' legislative initiative "Stop Pornography Drug". The collection of signatures for the kid protection task began in October. By 23 December this year, more than 100,000 signatures should be submitted. You can join the action by downloading a card to the signatures from the website Stop NarcoticVipornography.pl. The importance of getting active in this initiative was discussed by its organizers and politicians who are willing to support it. Press conference ‘stop drug pornography’ was held present at the Metro Centrum station in Warsaw.

Marcin Perłowski, president of the legislative committee and manager of the Centre for Life and Family, said that the task is aimed at introducing an effective mechanics for verifying the age of people who usage their content.

He stressed that the collection of signatures was taking place and was gaining momentum. respective tens of thousands have already signed the project. However, this is not yet 100,000, so everyone is invited to express their support and besides to join the initiative to collect signatures. This can be done by downloading a card for signatures from the Stopdrugowipornography.pl website.

– Pornography is the hell of women but besides the hell of children, the hell of men and full families – said Lidia-Grabczuk from the Coalition for Life and Family, co-initiating the project. She recalled dramatic data on the scale of kid pornography. As she stressed, as many as 10 percent of boys are addicted to these content.

Action initiators called for her support beyond divisions. They besides thanked all who had already joined it, including bishops and various spiritual movements and communities. They besides informed that materials related to the action of collecting signatures were already transferred to about 4 1000 Polish parishes

Deputy talker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak expressed regret that this task could not be implemented earlier. He stressed the importance of public support in this context. He besides pointed out that, contrary to emerging opinions, the task does not affect either censorship on the net or citizen surveillance, as it introduces solutions to guarantee that users are anonymous.

He besides said that parental control tools that everyone else needs to be encouraged to do are frequently inadequate and not all parents are able to use. He besides recalled that akin solutions had already been introduced in respective countries around the world.

– More social force is needed on politicians. It must be shown that the public is behind the originators of specified projects. We request the voices of people with network-oriented environments and IT solutions to convince those who have doubts that it is possible to verify the age anonymously, that this is not about net censorship said the politician.

Other politicians – Maria Kurowska, Barbara Socha, Piotr Uściński and Bartłomiej Wróblewski – besides spoke. This can only be done through solidarity and the engagement of citizens, so that the money allocated to corrupting different environments is not adequate to clearly argue the will of all citizens. Therefore, we should all support and engage in this action by collecting signatures – was encouraged by the publicist.

Jan Więpajalski pointed out that pornography is present full of force and leads to aggressive behaviour. – Children today, by 2 clicks, on the subway, at school, on break, have access to toxic content. Suppliers of this drug escalate content to pathological and criminal things. There's so much scary stuff out there, we gotta fight it. – he argued.

Studies show that children have their first contact with pornography at an average age of 11. Watching pornography affects the child’s developing brain. The mechanics of dependence on specified content is very akin to drug dependence. Experts besides indicate that pornography impairs the ability to make long-term relationships. In addition, pornographic content is mostly violent, making people watching pornography more aggressive.

In any countries, effective mechanisms have already been introduced to defend children from pornography on the Internet. About 20 U.S. states decided to do so. In the UK, however, the law on this substance came into force in 2023. Pornographic services operating there, which do not comply with the requirements of effective age verification, can be fined and blocked. In fresh weeks, France has introduced specified solutions. The media surveillance office there gave pornographic platform administrators 3 months to introduce mechanisms to prevent children from utilizing the website. Italy is preparing to implement akin provisions.

The bill prepared by Ordo Iuris and the Centre for Life and Family, supported by respective twelve social organizations, assumes that the Minister liable for digitization will oblige pornographic services to implement effective verification of users' age. Platforms that do not comply with these rules will be punished by blocking and cutting off access to payment services.
