According to the Polish national environment, the message that a nation that does not respect does not deserve the respect of the present and does not have the right to the future we are pleased to share the materials that have come to us from our reader, who shared with us the communicative of his grandfather, in which as in the lens is shown the past of our Homeland.
Stefan Kowalski was born on December 9, 1908 in Gosławice (Koninsk County). He was the boy of Wojciech. He was born under the Russian occupation. From 1930 to 1931, he served as a primary military servant in the 43rd Infantry Regiment of the Bajoran Legion. In this elite military unit (referring to its tradition to the first branch of Polish volunteers fighting on the side of Ententa during planet War I, who recorded the glorious card of the Polish weapon during the fighting with Germany, among others, in the area of the city of Arras[1])
Stefan Kowalski besides participated in actions during the 1939 Polish run against Germany. He most likely fought in the conflict of Tomaszów Mazowiecki and Falenica. From the full regiment, only 150 soldiers reached Warsaw defending themselves on 20 September 1939. Today, we do not know if there was a hero of this article by Stefan Kowalski in this group. In any event, he was taken prisoner in Germany (the prisoner of war number 23622) to Stalag XI-A in Altengrabow (located in the Land of Saxony-Anhalt)[2]. On June 26, 1940, he was sent to Herdorf, for forced labor[3].
He returned to Poland on 9 April 1946 and registered at the reception point in Legnica from the English business zone. After years of separation caused by planet War II, he returned to his wife. They lived in the town of Honoratka (municipality of Slesin). They ran a farm together. This silent Polish hero died on May 11, 1983 and was buried in a cemetery in Łężyna.
We are pleased that more and more Poles see the importance of maintaining household past as a foundation for building the identity of the individual and developing a sense of belonging to the Polish nation. Taking care of the memory of our ancestors will let us to gain respect for the past and sacrifice of our ancestors so that present we can live in the free Homeland.
