HONG KONG- Singapore Airlines (SQ) will temporarily bring back its Airbus A380 on the Singapore (SIN) – Hong Kong (HKG) route in mid-2026. The aircraft will feature the carrier’s flagship Suites and 2017 Business Class products, offering travelers a rare short-haul opportunity to experience its newest premium cabins.
The A380 will operate daily on flights SQ892/893 between late June and late July 2026, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER (77W) for these five weeks. KrisFlyer members will find both Saver and Advantage award space available, though premium cabin redemptions come at a steep mileage cost.

Singapore Airlines A380 Returns to Hong Kong
The superjumbo has not been a regular fixture on the Singapore–Hong Kong route since the Chinese New Year 2025, and before that, in October 2024, Mainly Miles reported.
Singapore Airlines will briefly reintroduce the type during peak summer demand, from 21 June to 25 July 2026, covering SQ892 from Singapore to Hong Kong and SQ893 on the return.
Outside of this window, the Boeing 777-300ER will operate these flights, equipped with the older 2013 First Class and Business Class seats. For passengers, the A380 swap represents a significant upgrade, as the aircraft carries the latest cabin generation across all classes.
Flight schedules and Aircraft deployment
Singapore Airlines will continue to operate five daily flights on the Singapore–Hong Kong route during the 2026 northern summer season. Most services will use Airbus A350-900s, with SQ892/893 being the only rotation upgraded to the A380 for a limited time.
Singapore – Hong Kong (29 March – 31 October 2026)
- SQ874: A350 Long Haul, daily
- SQ882: A350 Medium Haul, daily
- SQ892: 777-300ER (Mar–Jun, Jul–Oct) / A380 (21 Jun–25 Jul), daily
- SQ894: A350 Long Haul, daily
- SQ898: A350 Medium Haul, daily
Hong Kong – Singapore (29 March – 31 October 2026)
- SQ899: A350 Medium Haul, daily
- SQ875: A350 Long Haul, daily
- SQ883: A350 Medium Haul, daily
- SQ893: 777-300ER (Mar–Jun, Jul–Oct) / A380 (21 Jun–25 Jul), daily
- SQ895: A350 Long Haul, daily
Each flight takes about four hours, offering a convenient introduction to the A380’s latest cabin experience without the need for long-haul travel.

Award Redemptions on the route
KrisFlyer members will see a wide spread in redemption pricing for this route, from budget-friendly Scoot (TR) options to premium Singapore Airlines cabins.
KrisFlyer one-way award rates (SIN–HKG)
- Economy: 16,500 (Saver) / 30,000 (Advantage)
- Premium Economy: 26,500 (Saver)
- Business: 34,000 (Saver) / 50,000 (Advantage)
- First / Suites: 45,000 (Saver) / 73,000 (Advantage)
- Scoot Economy: 6,500 (Saver) / 12,500 (Advantage)
While Saver Suites awards are mostly waitlisted, some dates show instant confirmation. Advantage Suites space is more widely available, though at 73,000 miles one-way, the redemption is costly.
PPS Club members may access additional Saver availability, reflecting their priority booking benefits.

Old Aircraft, But New Product
All Airbus A380s in the Singapore Airlines fleet are fitted with the latest 2017 cabin design. This includes six private Suites at the front of the upper deck, new Business Class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 layout, and a redesigned Premium Economy section with 44 seats.
Passengers can also expect upgraded KrisWorld in-flight entertainment and in-flight Wi-Fi. While the service level matches the flagship product, some features like caviar service, amenity kits, and sleeper suits are not offered on this short route, keeping the soft product slightly different from long-haul flights to Europe or Australia.
Despite the A380’s temporary reappearance, overall capacity on the Singapore–Hong Kong route remains significantly below pre-COVID levels. Singapore Airlines will offer five daily flights in summer 2026, down from seven before the pandemic.
Scoot will contribute only one daily Airbus A320 service, compared with three daily flights in 2019. Combined, the SIA Group will provide 12,383 weekly seats in each direction, roughly one-third fewer than the 18,519 available in July 2019.
By contrast, Cathay Pacific (CX) has restored eight of its nine pre-pandemic daily flights, though one is operated by the smaller Airbus A321neo, which seats just over 200 passengers.

Bottom Line
Singapore Airlines will operate the Airbus A380 on its Singapore–Hong Kong flights for a limited five-week period in mid-2026. The move offers travelers the chance to sample the airline’s latest Suites and Business Class products on a short-haul route.
While award redemptions are available, high mileage rates in premium cabins make them a selective choice. At the same time, overall capacity on this city pair continues to lag well behind pre-pandemic levels, highlighting the slow recovery of one of Asia’s busiest regional routes.
