The necessity to abandon attempts to defend Christian civilization and to quit Catholic dogma. This is the essence of the speech she gave at the Catholic University of Lublin Chantal Delsol, a French intellectual awarded by the university the title of doctor "honoris causa". any time ago, the author became celebrated for publishing a book in which she heard the end of the Christian world. She besides warned against trying to keep it... These, in her opinion, are forged by the desire for dominance and turn into political oppression.

The KUL legislature honored prof. Chantal Delsol with its prestigious title, motivating his decision with his desire to express respect and designation for her accomplishments. The university's authorities found her to be a prominent humanist, reproving her in her philosophical and literary writings for “the dignity of the human individual and the fact in the post-modern world.”

When beginning the ceremony, the Rector of KUL Fr.Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski emphasized the crucial function in the life of the fresh honorary doctor of the Catholic university was the fact and the pursuit of it. At the same time, he added that the service of fact is 1 of the missions which he told the university of St. John Paul II.

– If I were to give 1 single reason why prof. Delsol should receive this highest discrimination in the academic planet at KUL, I would point to her faithful service of the Truth. Pope John Paul II pointed out this task as an nonsubjective to our university. Those serving the fact are to be the light in our community, helping us to choose the right way and to follow it, especially erstwhile it becomes narrow and requiring any eventual risks. – said the rector.

In a commemorative laudation, the philosopher was reminded of the research's merits, emphasizing her work to defend human dignity. – A peculiar place in Chantal Delsol's work is the question of how in the context of political and cultural change the question of the fundamentals and foundations of human dignity is presented. The roots of European humanism were the belief in “the dignity of a single human being” – said Prof. Agnieszka Kiejewska, prof. of Philosophy.

Her relation with the Polish academic and cultural environment was besides mentioned.

In the beginning lecture, the subject of which was the “Mission and individual of Witness”, Prof. Chantal Delsol spoke of the unique function of a witness, whose function is not words, but the way of life is to be surviving proof of the surviving faith. But there was besides a call to abandon attempts to rebuild Christian civilization. The student besides talked about the request to part with Catholic “dogmatics”. alternatively of the infallible and clearly explained truths of faith, the Church, in her opinion, must base itself present on phenomenology – a philosophical note emphasizing the importance of experiences and impressions.

– I believe that since Christianity has survived for centuries, thanks to the existence of witnesses: large saints and all unknown saints... If we want to proceed to respect our missionary vocation, the only thing that matters here is the witness, simple, humble, ordinary, I want to say: average witness. He should only convert through his own person, his own conduct – said the professor. –If this mission is meant to mean conquest, we can reject this ambition immediately. We will not save the Christian world, for we no longer have the desire to conquer and we have understood the evil of dominance. But we will proceed the past of Christianity in this way: in philosophy, replacing dogmatics with phenomenology; in pastoralism, replacing dogmatics with testimony— finished the speech

The event ended with the 7th legislature of Christian Culture held in Lublin from October 17. Its conclusions can so be considered to be a serious contrast with the name of the event itself.

The doctorate of honoris causa prof. Chantal Delsol was combined with the inauguration ceremony of the academic year 2024/2025 at the KUL.
