Confederate press conference – comment on Prime Minister Donald Tusk's visit to Ukraine – attended by Michał Wawer and Marty Czech, 23 January 2024.
Michael Waver:
– quite a few things must have changed to keep things the same! This can be summed up by Donald Tusk's visit to Ukraine. Yesterday on this visit we watched another episode of the approach that PiS had previously presented. This means that Polish politicians are servants of the Ukrainian people. due to the fact that during this visit many topics were discussed and virtually no of these topics was a subject that was crucial from the position of the Polish national interest. Topics applicable to the interest of the Ukrainian people were discussed. These were topics specified as military support, purchases of military equipment, beginning fresh border crossings, energy and infrastructure support for Ukraine, support for Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Because even though the government has changed, that the organization colors have changed, the PiS has changed to the Platform, it is inactive the policy of the fresh government, as well as the old government, to be Ukraine's lawyer internationally. In addition, the worst kind of lawyer, due to the fact that a free attorney, a volunteer lawyer not only will not pay for his services but will not even feel grateful!
On the another hand, the subjects that were not discussed on the Polish Prime Minister's journey to Ukraine?
These topics did not include the issue of the transport industry, where negotiations are presently taking place with Polish carriers, the Polish government, the Ukrainian government and EU bodies, in order to resolve the situation in which Polish carriers are discriminated against, profoundly disadvantaged towards Ukrainian carriers.
The subject of the Polish marketplace in agri-food products from Ukraine was not discussed, where in fresh months we have passed a immense scandal on this topic. And 1 of Donald Tusk's demands was to settle the PiS politicians liable for this scandal. The structural problem in the form of a flood of Ukrainian goods is inactive unresolved! Prime Minister Tusk, erstwhile he left for Ukraine, did not consider it appropriate to address this issue however, and anything for Poland in this matter.
The subject of historical policy, the issue of exhumation, the commemoration of the victims of the Volyn massacre, the subject which weighs on Polish-Ukrainian relations, was besides unmoved. The subject in which we observe, more than most likely in any another subject, the arrogance and insolence of Ukrainian politicians, who, on the 1 hand, derive from Polish aid, let the Polish nation to finance a large part of the war effort of Ukraine, while at the same time conducting anti-Polish policy and raising Ukrainian children, Ukrainian youth in hatred of Poles and believing that the banners were national heroes Ukraine at a time erstwhile these flags are – not only Polish opinion, but according to nonsubjective past – criminals liable for killing innocent Poles.
This package of cases I am talking about, which were not raised by Donald Tusk during his visit to Ukraine, cannot stay unmoved! They cannot stay a dead place in talks with Ukraine! Especially now that Ukraine is mostly dependent on Poland!
And it's not about utilizing this addiction, really, it's not about being interesting and not doing the right thing. No! No! It is about the simple decency and exploitation of the situation in which Ukraine must talk to us, to settle the fair, fair interests of the Polish nation!
It is fair and fair for Polish carriers to have the same conditions for doing their business, the same rules as Ukrainian carriers.
It is fair and fair that Polish farmers should not bear more than Ukrainian oligarchs the burden of Ukrainian war and economical effort! It cannot be that at a time erstwhile Ukrainian oligarchs make millions on the export of their agricultural goods, Polish farmers are being brought down and bankrupt, and it is them that the actual economical burden of war in Ukraine falls on them, and Ukrainian oligarchs bear no cost of defending their own country, and even benefit from the fact that this war is going on!
And, of course, the issues of historical policy, where simply utilizing Polish military aid, Polish economical aid, sending refugees to Poland, while at the same time conducting anti-Polish propaganda, is simply a cry for vengeance to heaven from Ukrainian politicians.
We request that Prime Minister Donald Tusk start pursuing Polish interests and discuss these Polish interests with Ukrainians. So that he would not proceed the disastrous, suicidal, senseless line previously led by PiS politicians, who carried out the Ukrainian interest in the first place, and remembered this Polish only on the occasion, or somewhere far on the second plan.
