Romania has introduced a law on ‘talk of hate’

Yesterday, June 11, Romania introduced The censorship bill, whereby for promoting anti-Semitic, fascist, racist or xenophobic content, endanger to punish up to 10 years imprisonment and the removal of civilian rights. It is about the silence of judaic critics and Euro-Colochoz. The right-wing candidates who lost the presidential election thanks to many manipulations warned against it.

Romania has introduced a law on “talk of hate”. The then Chamber of Deputies voted on a draft law which extends the scope of sanctions for those promoting fascist, racist or xenophobic characters or organizations, and exacerbates certain penalties. The bill was adopted by 199 votes in favour, 99 votes against and 2 abstentions.

Dan Tanasă, deputy and spokesperson for AUR, called the bill a "political baton" to attack political opponents. He claims that there is no anti-Semitism in Romania, and the stake is to treat opponents as "extremists". The bill (reported on the initiative of an highly left-wing MP Silviu Vexler) was adopted earlier by the legislature and approved by the Legal Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.

The first elements introduced in the revised version of GEO 31/2002 concerning the prohibition of fascist, racist or xenophobic organizations, symbols and activities are the introduction of the concepts of "legionist" and "legionism" (the Romanian national movements of the 1930s and 1940s).

‘Initiation or establishment of organizations of a fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic character, and joining or supporting specified a group in any form constitutes a criminal offence and is subject to imprisonment from 3 to 10 years and the removal of public rights’ – reads in 1 of the articles of the fresh law.

New is the fact that for distributing fascist, legionary, racist and xenophobic material on the net or making publically available, there is provision for expanding the punishment threshold by half, while for distributing in another environments than computer, the punishment ranges from 1 to 5 years in prison.

In addition, "the public promotion of the worship of those guilty of committing crimes against humanity and war, persons who are part of the leadership of fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic organizations, as well as the public promotion of fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic ideas, concepts or doctrines, within the meaning of Article 2(a), shall be subject to imprisonment from 3 months to 3 years and prohibition of certain rights".

A fresh provision compared to the existing law is to punish for denying, questioning, approving, justifying or minimising the Holocaust in Romania or its effects, which will be punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years and the removal of public rights. As we can see, there was no shortage of bowing to the Jews. After all, according to them, the alleged holocaust is the most crucial event in human history, but possibly the Israelites' departure from Egypt.

Poland temporarily defended itself against the same kind of preventive censorship project, reported by Ukrainian Adam Bodnar. Although the Polish parliament, under control of the left and liberals, passed the applicable bill, president Andrzej Duda referred it to the Constitutional Court. The aim of the paper - as in the case of the Romanian Act - is to censor public debate and to restrict freedom of speech so that Jews, Islamists, invaders, sodomites and genderists are only spoken well or not at all.
