Let's not cry that we have individual to vote for.
The act of perjury has already been accomplished. fresh Left changed its candidate from Rafał Trzaskowski to Magdalena Biejat. There is no illusion – this decision did not happen in consequence to neoliberal and hard to accept e.g. in the area of human rights policy of Tusk, but in fear of being dominated by progressive Together. We should be happy about that. For a minute it seemed that left-wing candidates in the presidential election would not be. So why are we complaining now that there may be besides many of them? I look forward to a debate in which (potentially!) 4 candidates will tell Poles about what they think a fair and effective state of prosperity could look like.
It is worth asking yourself – what will Magda Biejat fight for in the election, and what (potential) candidate Together? Biejat fell NL from the sky. They hazard nothing by putting her out. Magda will fight by up to 5%. This is indicated by the investigation data and the establishment of her staff, which will be called a success. He fights not to give the left electorate to Trzaskowski in the first round.
Launch decisions Together will fall under democratic procedures in the coming days. That message is not drinking water. That's how we work. Assuming we decide to exposure our own candidate, our goals will be completely different. First of all, elections are an chance to build structures and convince fresh people to join together. They give the chance to make stories about what the left organization should be.
Do we want us to be ruled by the po-confederation coalition in 2027? In my opinion, this is simply a very possible scenario. Tusk already in his tenure suspended on the hanger of women's rights, number rights, human rights to prosecute neoliberal policies in which he seems to have never stopped believing, even if for a minute his group was trying to make an illusion that was different. Why wouldn't he do it again, arguing with the writing again? Together he does not race for votes with the fresh Left, he races with increasing support for the populist ultra-right and with the narrating “center” parties.
It is no wonder that in Together the subject of Magda Biejat is (still) hot. We all worked hard to build her recognition, and we trusted her hard. We are no different from the “understanding of the cause” – as a Warsaw City Councilwoman I realize perfectly what a compromise means. We disagree in our religion in whether fresh Left is able to shed incriminating habits and get off the couch. And honestly, I'd like to believe that NL will abandon this couch, but I can't... However, if the run Together dominates the anti-Magda emotion, it will end in failure (for all parties).
The presidential run gives a unique chance to scope people we do not usually reach. There is simply a statutory airtime, a spotlight aimed at each candidate, there are local meetings and net motivated to fight political. yet – there are debates. And it's not the only 1 on TVP, but most of all the ones in the net media. specified ranges are hard to deny without regret. Campaigning is simply a time erstwhile people want – or must – to hear about political visions. Therefore, the challenge for Together is how to dress social justice in simple words. For now, we had a problem with that, and by 2027, we gotta learn that.
After electing Trump as president of the United States and Harris' weak score, I decided I would do anything to fight for a brave alternative. For Together, the presidential run cannot be a run of 1 face, but a diverse team. In 3 years, the consequence of the combined candidate will not be relevant, it will be crucial if they stay with us (or even run) people who have joined the collection of signatures, activities on social media and on the streets.
The very accumulation of 100,000 signatures for a tiny organization without a budget, without contacts allowing fast card filling, is simply a major challenge. The engagement of all our allies is essential. That is why I call, not only for those who "vote together" but besides for those who are happy to mobilise the fresh Left and who are happy to vote for Biejat, to support our left-wing "think tank" and to collect signatures on the lists of both candidates. And all commenters are invited to join the party.
