The National Council of Prosecutors under the law is on defender for the independency of prosecutors. In addition, it expresses its opinion on matters undertaken on its own initiative or presented by the PG, in peculiar on: legislative proposals concerning the prosecution and draft guidelines of the PG; the state and improvement of prosecutors' staff and courses of training of prosecutors; directions of action to improve the qualifications of professional prosecutors and the level of their work; candidates for the manager of the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecutors. The NRP consists of 22 members – the National Prosecutor, PK representatives, an IPN representative, representatives elected by the assemblies of prosecutors in regional prosecutors and 5 prosecutors appointed by the lawyer General. So far, these 5 prosecutors appointed by the PG were: Czesław Kłak, Grzegorz Ocieczek, Michał Ostrowski, Beata Sobieraj-Skonieczna and Adam Zabierznek.
